RESOLUTION NO. NYP-09-12-12Series 2012
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NATIONAL YOUTH COMMISSION (NYC) TO ESTABLISHTHE AGRI-PINOY YOUTH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, IN SUPPORT TO THE AGRI-PINOYFRAMEWORK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (D.A.) TO ANSWER THE CALL FOR
YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTRY ANDFACILITATE SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS, ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS, AND LIVELIHOODPROGRAMS FOR THE YOUTH

WHEREAS, adoption of this resolution shall address the alarming problem in terms of educationalscholarships, environmental awareness, and livelihood programs evidently felt by the youth sector allthroughout the country;
WHEREAS, there is an alarming decrease in the number of enrollees on agricultural courses in thecountry which indicates the declining interest of youth in agriculture;
WHEREAS, the initiation to formulate this resolution is in pursuant to the existing program of the officeof the Department of Agriculture in terms of scholarship grants for the youth manifested in theobjectives for scholarship of the said office which 1,050 or more underserved but deserving Filipinoyouths properly identified and screened by the stipulated office could avail;
WHEREAS, the program provides scholarship for the Out-Of-School Youth and unemployed individuals
in partnership with the office of the Department of Agriculture, which the source of fund would came
from;
WHEREAS, the courses for the scholarship grants may be determined according to the preference of
the Department of Agriculture;
WHEREAS, creative promotions such as, youth camps and more of the like, of the scholarship grants
for courses preferred by the sponsoring department, maybe made accordingly with the coordination of
the following government agencies namely: the National Youth Commission, the Department of
Education, and the Commission on Higher Education;
WHEREAS, the scholarship grants, which maybe in line with agriculture, would sustain the sufficiency
of rice production in the Philippines as one of the prior commitments of our President, His Excellency
Benigno Simeon Aquino;
WHEREAS, the interest of the youth in terms of ecological-friendly farming and agriculture will be
promoted upon the implementation of the program to utilize the vast land areas of the country which are
present in the various agricultural areas of the country in response to the worsening global warming
experienced all throughout the world;
WHEREAS, this program shall help minimize and discourage non-environment friendly activities such
as, mining, illegal logging, but not limited to illegal fishing;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Chairperson andmembers of the 9th NYP to approve the resolution establishing the Agri-Pinoy Youth FellowshipProgram, in support to the Agri-Pinoy Framework of the Department of Agriculture, to answer the callfor scholarship grants, environmental awareness, and livelihood programs for the youth.
RESOLVED FURTHER, fruit bearing trees shall be planted and grown in utilizing the vast land areas ofthe country as part of the program to address the issue on carbon dioxide emission as well as foodsecurity;

RESOLVED FURTHER, A TREE GROWING ACTIVITY shall be encouraged on the part of theelementary, secondary and tertiary students with the aid of the Department of Education as well as theCommission on Higher Education and DENR as the concerned supporting body, to plant 31 trees perstudent in the designated areas identified by the school where they, the students, are enrolled;
RESOLVED FURTHER, livelihood opportunities adhering to the principles of ecological friendly farming
would be pushed through;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that a copy of this resolution be furnished and distributed for guidance andconsideration to the following:
1. National Youth Commission (NYC)2. Department of Agriculture (DA)3. Department of Education (DepEd)4. Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
