SET UP A NEW CHROMEBOOK

Follow these instructions for Enterprise Enrollment of DOE-purchased Chromebooks on a school-owned & managed

Google Apps domain

PREFACEAll DOE Chromebooks SHOULD be “enterprise enrolled” with a master user within the destination domain using the following directions before any other user can use the device.

(you don’t need too but it is highly recommended for ease of use, management, etc).



STEP 1Power up and you’ll see this screen



STEP 2“Select a network” by scrolling down the drop-down and

selecting “Other Wi-Fi network”



STEP 3Enter DOE Wi-Fi information and click “Connect”

SSID: your DOE network nameSecurity: WEP

STEP 4Accept and continue



STEP 5Due to the DOE proxy you will see this. Click on the network

name drop-down menu at the bottom



STEP 6Scroll down the network list & click on “Proxy settings”



STEP 7Choose “Automatic proxy configuration” and check

“Use an auto-configuration URL”Enter the following: http://proxy.nycboe.org/proxy.pac

Once entered click the X (top right) to get back

STEP 8Chrome will connect & update... Give it a few minutes...



STEP 9When you see this DO NOT SIGN IN!

Click Ctrl-Alt-EMonday, April 28, 14


STEP 10After Ctrl-Alt-E the login screen will switch to “enterprise enrollment”You should have a standard domain account setup to act as the “owner” of the

device - a single account you use to enroll every device in your domain



STEP 11Once you log in you’ll see the above screen

Click “Done”



STEP 12AAfter successful “enterprise enrollment” you will return to a standard

“Sign in” screenNotice the bottom - it states “This device is managed by ps10.org”



STEP 12BLog in as your Chromebook “owner” account again

Not required but useful to “set ownership” of each device. Gives every device a standard initial user - helpful to keep track of setup and for future troubleshooting

STEP 13AAfter you enter the ownership credentials you should see your user avatar

We use our school logo to help quickly, visually, recognize an enrolled device

Click “Ok”



STEP 14This is the desktop of a successfully logged in & enrolled device

using our @ps10.org “enrollment ownership” account



STEP 15Click the task bar on the bottom right of the desktop to verify the

user & wi-fi settings...Sign out



STEP 16When you log out and get to this, the main log-in screen, you are

done.Shut down or add new user



MOVING FORWARDOnce the device is enrolled and the domain owner account is active, you can now log in as any

user within your domainClick “Add user” and enter the full user credentials, including the @domain, and the user
