- Island of Manhattan separated from mainland and Long Island by Hudson River, East River, and Harlem River (Bridges and Tunnels needed)
- 3 Major Airports in metro area (LaGuardia, John. F Kennedy, Newark)
- Extensive subway system that connects Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn
- West side of Manhattan was where main ports were during the earlier years of city
- MTA (Metro Transit Authority) has become the name of the New York City Transit Authority
- Responsible for Subway System, Bus Network, and Staten Island Railway
- Busiest and Largest Transportation system in North America
- Port Authority oversees all Bridges, Tunnels, Airports, and Seaports
- Operates Port Authority Bus Terminal, PATH Railway system, and has its own Police force
- Collect Tolls from those using Bridges and Tunnels to go to maintenance for the structures
