LOCATIONThe Nyack, NY, residential campus is set on a hillside overlooking the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge, only 23 miles from New York City. It neigh-bors the Village of Nyack, a charming and secluded community known for its restaurants, antique and specialty shops. The campus consists of 65 acres and 31 college-owned buildings in a mix of Victorian and Tudor styles. Nearby are West Point, several Revolutionary War historical sites, and recreational activities including hiking, skiing, skating, boating, golf, and tennis. The New York City campus is located at Broadway and Worth Streets in lower Manhattan. New York City o₧ers the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Chinatown, the Bronx Zoo, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center, Broadway shows and plays, eight major professional sports teams, the U.S. National Ten-nis Center, shopping, museums, art, and culture.

Nyack College competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). We also compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) at the Division I level. The Warriors compete in 11 di₧erent sports:

coaching staff

Coach Julien begins his first year at the helm for the Warriors women’s basketball program. A 1998 graduate of Nyack College with a degree in psychology and a 2005 inductee into the Nyack Hall of Fame,

Prior to being named Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Coach Julien spent the past two seasons serving as an assistant coach under Josh Thompson and spending one season as an assistant coach in Warriors’ Men’s Basketball Program.

Coach Julien played basketball in the 1992-1993 and 1993-1994 seasons and, after taking a year off from school, came back to play in the 1995-1996 and 1996-1997 seasons.

Julien currently ranks third all time in scoring at Nyack College with 1,844 points. He played in 136 games during his career and had a scoring aver-age of 13.5 points per game. He handed out over 400 assists, holds the record for 3-point field goals made with over 250 in his career, is second all-time in 3-pointers made in a season with 104, and his 3-point percent-age for his career was over 35 percent.

Assistant Coach Rashidi Aikens is entering his 14th season with the program and his 11th as an assistant coach. As the first assistant he holds the responsibilities of being the strength and conditioning coach for the team. He holds a certification through (AFAA) Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, as a personal trainer, and he is a (NSCA) National Strength and Conditioning Association member. He also coordinates the film exchange program and does on and off campus recruiting. Rashidi has been a major part of Nyack’s first four championship teams. During the 2009-2010 campaign he helped assist Nyack to its first regular season conference championship with a 13-6 record. The Warriors then went on to win the conference tournament with a 45-43 win over the #14 ranked Holy Family University Tigers. This successful season helped the Lady Warriors become the institutions first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Another great mile-stone during the 2009-2010 season was the 21 wins combined, which led to the programs first 20 win season. Rashidi has also been a part of two NCCAA East Region championship teams as an assistant coach. The first was when the team won the 2001 NCCAA East Region and went on to the NCCAA national tournament. Eight years later the 2009 squad also went to the NCCAA national tournament. Rashidi was hired on September 1st 2006 to a full-time position in athletics as the strength and conditioning coach for athletics, and the fitness center manager. Rashidi also served as the first assistant for the Warriors softball program from 2002-2010. During his tenure as assistant coach for the softball team, he helped guide the team to the most wins in the program history with 17 wins during the 2002 season. He also served as head coach during the fall 2008 season and guided the team to an undefeated record. With all his experience, he aspires to be a head coach as the next challenge in his career. Rashidi institutes the physical portion of Nyack College’s Wellness Program, in which he teaches classes for faculty and staff. He is a 2001 graduate of Nyack College, and he currently resides in Nyack, New York with his wife Mandy and their daughters Madison and Elise.

Assistant Coach Alena Kush is entering her 3rd season with the program. During her 2nd year as assistant coach she helped assist the 2009-2010 team to its first regular season conference championship with a 13-6 record. The Warriors then went on to win their conference tournament, which they received their first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Alena attended SUNY Oneonta from 1998-2003. Coach Kush was a part of the Lady Dragons Women’s basketball team from 1998-2000, 2001-2003. Her junior year she started and played all 26 games, averaged 10.3 ppg (points per game) and 8.3 rpg (rebounds per game). Her senior year she played and started all 28 games, averaged 9.9 ppg and 7.1 rpg. Alena Kush has lived in Nyack, NY for the last four years with her husband Michael Kush and their two daughters Shy’anne and Savana Kush.

Ira Webbe returns back to his alma mater Nyack College as a Peak Performance Coach on the Lady Warriors basketball staff. Ira earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Nyack College in May of 2002 where he majored in Psychology, continued his education two years later in California and received his MBA with a specialization in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in May 2008. He has been mentored by professional sport psy-chologists who currently help continue to grow the field of Applied Sports Psychology on all levels of sport. Ira’s work experiences are in the personal development field where he coached and counseled at-risk youth to achieve their life’s goals through developing their mental skills. Ira believes that athletics, movies, and music are the three most important cultural artifacts that distinctly shape our youth for the future. So in 2008, Ira started his own company, Mental EJ(edge), that focuses on motivating and developing team leaders and peak performers within the athletic environment using mental training.Ira has worked with high school football, volleyball, JV & Varsity baseball, marathon & cross country runners. He has also spoken at juvenile detention facilities as a life coach and with female young adults coming out of foster care. “Working with the Nyack College Lady Warriors basketball team, a team that has new personality and personnel dynamics, will be a challenge I’m sure the entire coaching staff and team is up for. Go Warriors!”Ira resides in North Brunswick, NJ.

Shelly Yount is currently serving as a Nyack College graduate assistant and in her 2nd year at Alliance Theologi-cal Seminary pursuing her MA in Intercultural Studies. Her primary role is assisting the Women\’s basketball team. She is an alumni of the Lady Warriors basketball team. She played under head coach Josh Thompson 2006-2010. She has seen the program grow from 5 wins in her freshman year to winning the NCCAA East Region Champion-ship during her junior year of eligibility where she averaged a career best of 12 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Shelly helped guide Nyack to it\’s first CACC regular Season Championship with a record of 13-6 during 2009-2010 campaign. In the CACC Tournament, she was named to the All Tournament team. She was also a big pres-ence as she helped Nyack win it\’s 1st Conference Championship over Holy Family University. During her senior season she scored her 1,000 point against Holy Family University on 2/20/10. This puts her currently 8th all time leading scorer with 1,103 point. She also has 816 career rebounds which places her top 5 and 195 blocks which ranks her 2nd in the programs history.

Minter enters her first season on the Lady Warriors coaching staff. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, she was a transfer from Cecil Community College, Minter spent her collegiate career as a member of the LadyWarriors from 2008-2010.In her time at Nyack College, she played in 64 games, scored 696 points, grabbed 381 rebounds, blocked 29 shots, had 101 steals and dished out 344 assists. In her two years, Minter served as a captain aswell as a team leader on and off the court. During her time at Nyack, Minter was one of the top guards in the CACC as she ranked top 5 at her position in rebounds and assist. She finished as a two time All- CACC 3rd team section,All- Metropolitan 2nd team NCCAA East Region 1st team, NCCAA All-American, 2nd team and MVP of the 2009-2010 CACC Tournament as she helped the Lady Warriors shock the #14 ranked Holy Family University Tigers 45-43to win the programs first CACC Tournament Championship. Minter was also key in Nyack winning the 2009 NCCAA East Region Championship with a win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She also helped Ny-ack finish 13-6 to win the CACC Regular season championship. She received the 2008 Impact player of the year Award and 2009 Harold W. Bowman Character Achievement Award as well as the Leadership Award.

Minter graduates from Nyack College this December, she will receive her bachelor’s degree in psychology.
