  • EXTERNAL USE 4

Using electronics to improve patient outcome

Patient Outcome is driven by: 1. the efficacy of the drug

    2. the adherence of the patient

Drug efficacy is determined by • the match with the illness of the patient

    • the handling of the drug till the intake

Patient adherence can be improved by • better follow-up/coaching of the patient

    NXP’s NTAG SmartSensors®

    • Single chip solutions with NFC readout and event/sensor logging

    • Monitor the thermal handling: is my drug still working at the intake?

    • not too high or too low temperatures

    • Monitor the drug intake and the delivery: Therapy Adherence • Combined with a SmartPhone APP that coaches/monitors the patient

    • Reminders for pill taking, avoiding over-usage, coach patients to improve their intake

    • Provide care-givers feedback about the patient’s behavior (with consent)
