SAP NetWeaver Business Client 3.0
NWBC for HTML (Zero footprint client with Web 2.0)
NWBC for Desktop (Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7) SAP NetWeaver
Business Client (NWBC)
provides a role-based
single point of entry to
SAP business applications
such as SAP GUI
applications, BSP pages
and newly developed
applications based on
Web Dynpro.
NWBC for HTML is a browser-based
shell (available only against ABAP
systems) for casual use scenarios.
Within this environment, all SAP GUI
transactions will be rendered using the
SAP GUI for HTML rendering engine.
It offers
• A well-structured, visually
attractive workplace
• Intuitive, consistent and
harmonized user
interactions across
different SAP UIs
•Desktop integration
capabilities such as
integrated search
NWBC for Desktop is a Windows
based application that targets the power
user. In this scenario, the SAP GUI
itself is used as rendering engine if I
nstalled. NWBC effectively “replaces”
SAP GUI as main entry point to SAP
applications; however, it uses SAP GUI
to run existing applications.

SAP NetWeaver Business Client & ABAP Backends
The SAP NetWeaver Business Client enables direct connectivity to the ABAP backend system and PFCG role repository centrally holding SAP GUI, Web Dynpro and various web content applications. This ensures that all the rules, roles and investments made are preserved in the SAP NetWeaver Business Client allowing for a uniform user-centered environment.

SAP NWBC 3.5 for Desktop: SAP Easy Access,
Personalization
SAP Easy Access Consumption
Full Integration of Standard SAP Menus
– For large areas of SAP, especially on older systems and also in development systems, no individual
roles are created. Users just use the standard SAP menus (refer transaction SE43). These SAP
Menus must also be supported and made available within NWBC.
Easy Access Favorites
– Many customers extensively use the favorites concept in the Easy Access menu to build their own
custom navigation trees, some of which can actually be very complex. The Desktop Client can be
configured to display those favorites in the menu or as a work center.
Personalization
Persist User Sort Sequence and Hiding of Work Centers
Enable Technical Names for Transactions via Shell
– Allow the end user on the client side to toggle this behavior.

SAP NWBC for HTML, Embedded Use Case
Branding Image and URL
SRM in particular are using NWBC for HTML
extensively in scenarios where a customer wants
to manage their relationships with their suppliers.
Here, customer branding is very important for the
customer to his suppliers.
Non-SAP Portal Integration (IBM
WebSphere, Microsoft Sharepoint)
using NWBC embedded mode
Market demand to integrate ESS (biggest
revenue application) into dominant portal on the
market. Integration via a single URL approach
that lands on a service map from where all
applications can be started.

SAP NWBC 3.5 for Desktop: Other Features
Window mode configuration in role maintenance
Stand-alone
– When integrating some types of applications - for example SAP CRM, SAP ByDesign or a corporate
portal - the starting point of each application must still be displayed within NWBC. However, the
application must be launched stand-alone in a separate browser. NWBC is here only the single point
of entry.
Application window
– In Some use cases, users need a transaction within the navigation tree that will always launch in an
application window. The idea is to have the folder with the home page standing, and have the
applications, especially SAP GUI based applications, run standalone.
Enhanced Test Automation Framework
Improved performance and supportability through new C# Runtime
Improved NWBC runtime performance (Server Caches)
Thank You!
