Second-hand smoke, also known as Environmental Tobacco Smoke or ETS, comes from smokable items like cigarettes, pipes and cigars.

Second-hand smoke contains cancer causing agents or carcinogens.

Due to more awareness and education most pet owners are aware of the harmful effects of smoking and second-hand smoke.

We already know that second-hand smoke can be harmful to humans but it is also important to realize that smoking around are pets can also be harmful to them.

Interestingly, the lungs of cats and dogs are virtually identical to that of humans so it is easy to understand how they may affect our beloved pets.

3. More common in dogs are lung, nose and sinus cancers. Research has shown that the muzzle size of the dog can determine their likelihood for lung or nose and sinus cancer. To explain, the longer the muzzle of the pooch, the more likely the dog will develop nose and sinus cancer, this is because of the larger surface area potentially affected by the second-hand smoke. Dogs with shorter muzzles are more likely to get lung cancer.
