JOINING INSTRUCTIONS
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
1. I congratulate you on your selection as undergraduate student of the college. College
of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is one of the biggest constituent colleges of NUST.
College offers Bachelors of Engineering in four disciplines, i.e. Electrical, Mechanical,
Computer, and Mechatronics Engineering; which are accredited engineering degree
programs recognized by Washington Accord. College has 60 PhD and 48 MS qualified
faculty members. The graduates of this college have found a great acceptance in the private
and public sector organizations.
2. College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is fulfilling its responsibility of
graduating culturally enlightened, technologically knowledgeable, academically competent,
and research oriented productive citizens who are prepared to lead, inspire, and serve
humanity. It is located on Rawalpindi-Peshawar GT Road near Golra Morr at a distance of
about 13 Kms from the heart of Rawalpindi and 15 Kms from the center of Islamabad.

3. Schedule of Fall 2017 Semester / Classes. Regular classes will commence with
effect from 25th September 2017. However, all students will report to the college for
orientation/registration as per following schedule:-

4. Mandatory Documents. Different types of documents are required by different
sections for registration. All students are, therefore, advised to make separate sets of
required documents as specified below to save time during documents submissions at
different desks during e-registration. Following documents are mandatory for registration:-

5. Opening of Bank Account. All students are required to open a bank account in
National Bank of Pakistan. Anx G entails procedure to be adopted by all students BEFORE
joining College (existing account holders of online branches of NBP also need to provide
data; details are mentioned in Anx G)
6. College RFID Card. Students will be issued with College ID cards after
completion of registration process. Rs. 400/- (Rupees four hundred only) will be deposited by
the student as ID card charges. In/out from the college gate will only be through College ID
card.
7. Academic Calendar. Academic calendar for Fall semester 2017 is attached as
Anx H. Classes are scheduled from 0900 hours to 1640 hours as per the training program,
which is uploaded on college website, and displayed on notice boards of respective
department.
8. Dress Code. Students have to wear college uniform as follows:-
a. Summer - Male Students
(1) White full sleeve/half sleeve collar shirt
(2) Light grey trousers
(3) Plain black belt (no fancy buckles)
(4) Black socks
(5) Black shoes oxford pattern
(6) NUST tie (may be exempted during hot weather)
Note: Every student has to be in possession of two pairs of college uniforms
before reporting.
b. Summer - Female Students
(1) White Kameez / Shalwar
(2) Navy Blue Dupatta / Scarf (Mandatory to be worn on head)
(3) Black shoes (Decent pattern; fancy shoes are not allowed)
c. Winter - Male Students
(1) Navy blue double breast blazer with college insignia
(2) NUST tie
(3) White full sleeve shirt
(4) Plain black belt (no fancy buckles)

9. Weekly Schedule for Uniform. Schedule is attached as Anx I.
10. Dues. Tuition fee is to be deposited in any branch of HBL in NUST account.
Fee challans are generated through student accounts on Campus Management System
(CMS). Each student will be issued with CMS account and password from ICT cell at
College. The fee bill challans will be downloaded from CMS by students themselves. Tuition
fee will be payable on semester basis. Students have to pay their fee in advance before
the commencement of semester otherwise they will not be allowed to register their
courses. All other types of payments like hostel dues/mess bills must be deposited within the
given time period/before start of semester in National Bank of Pakistan, College of E&ME.
11. Scholarships. Details pertaining to various scholarships are available on

12. Political Activities. Politics in the college is strictly forbidden, and all students
are directed to abstain from any such activity during their tenure of studies at the college. It is
clarified that the Rector NUST has full powers to terminate registration of any student when
so recommended by college principal if any student is found involved in such activity.
Certificate of “Non Involvement in Political Activities” as per Anx F be rendered by the
student, which is to be countersigned by parents/guardian.
13. Change of Contact Details. College authorities remain in contact with parents /
guardians regarding students’ progress throughout the semester. Semester results are sent
to the parents by post. Therefore, students must ensure that the undergraduate coordinators
of respective departments are immediately intimated about any change in the contact details
(e.g. email address, telephone numbers of their parents/guardians or their own numbers).
14. Driving. Students are not allowed to drive any vehicle without valid driving license
inside or outside the college. They are advised to remain vigilant while driving on main
highways. Parents should also warn their wards to follow the instructions strictly. Students
owning motor bikes must be in possession of safety helmets and will wear it while riding the
motor bike.
15. Fines. College authorities reserve the right to fine a student for any violation of
college/NUST rules, if considered necessary. Students checked on aspects like reporting late
to the class or absent from the classes or any other act of discipline etc. would be fined.

Repetition of such offences may be referred to NUST Discipline Committee for expulsion
from the college.
16. Hostel Accommodation. Hostel allotment policy, procedure for online
application, dues, and rules for in-living students are mentioned on following webpages:-

IN CASE AN IN-LIVING NUST STUDENT FAILS TO ABIDE BY THE COLLEGE RULES,
HE/SHE WILL BE GIVEN A WARNING; SUBSEQUENTLY HIS/HER IN-LIVING STATUS
WILL BE CANCELLED.
17. Rules for In-Living Female Students. Female students are required to abide by
the following rules:-
a. Parents are requested to provide list of addresses and list of phone numbers
of their relatives, where the student may be allowed to visit on weekends/out
passes.
b. All girl students are supposed to be inside the hostel premises by 2100 hrs.
c. Relatives are not allowed to visit Girls Hostel. They can meet the students in
in the areas earmarked for this purpose by the college
d. After class timing, office areas are out of bound for girl students, except the
specified shops and walk bead on the college circular road. Gym facilities are
available for female students on specified timings displayed on the entrance
gate of Gym.
18. Transportation Facility and Bus Route. Transportation facility may be availed
on payment of prescribed charges, depending upon seats availability. Bus route is mentioned
in Anx J.

20. Conclusion. College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is a premier
institution of NUST. College is committed to the academic excellence, development of
faculties, grooming personality and inculcating virtues in the students to transform them into
good human beings and above all proud Pakistanis. Activities not matching the aims and
objectives of the college cannot be tolerated. In discharging these sacred duties, the college
looks forward to receive full co-operation from the parents/guardians as well as the students
without which realizing the objectives is not possible.
