St. John’s International School (SJIS) is a privately-funded International School, which is an associate La Salle School established in collaboration with the De La Salle Brothers Malaysia.

The establishment of SJIS is in keeping with one of the priorities of the Lasallian Family in Malaysia to cater to the needs of young Malaysians, and also to link the school with a Lasallian organisation that has an outstanding and reputable long-history of delivering excellent education not only in Malaysia, but in 82 countries worldwide.

SJIS presents a new environment for students from different cultures and backgrounds to be nurtured in education, sports and extracurricular activities. We realise that a holistic education is also one that promotes values of respect for all, accompanied by a sense of responsibility. Good discipline and a strong student-faculty relationship are emphasised to create an atmosphere of mutual learning and respect within the school.

Students and parents recognise that education at SJIS has distinct characteristics. Members of the SJIS faculty are chosen for their top academic qualifications and methodical competency. They are selected for their penchant for scholastic care of students and are constantly updated with pedagogical knowledge and current teaching practices. We envision a great learning experience for the students of SJIS.

Our focus on providing the students with varied exposures will develop well-balanced, all rounded students who are set on the path to brilliant successes in higher studies and a brighter future.

SJIS is certified by ISO 9001-2015, which means that SJIS is meeting ‘International’ standards, under quality management systems to ensure that we meet the needs of our various stakeholders.

ABOUT US

At SJIS, we encourage students to enjoy every element of their student life whilst in school; to strengthen their academic potential and enhance their characters and ethical values. The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognised qualifications around the world.

Cambridge IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital education skills, including recall of knowledge, oral skills, problem-solving, initiative, teamwork and investigative skills. The resulting qualification provides a foundation for higher level courses, such as Cambridge GCE A-Level, the North American Advanced Placement Programme and the International Baccalaureate.

The Cambridge IGCSE programme caters to different levels of ability with a choice between core and extended papers in many subjects. The core curriculum is based on an overview of the subject and is suitable for students expected to achieve grades between C to G.

The extended curriculum is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A to C. The grades achieved through either route possess the same value.

SJIS has always been in the forefront, providing quality education and taking the lead by applying new initiatives and strategies, while at the same time upholding its fine tradition.

On 19th March 2019, we unveiled the journey of our prestigious Campus 2-our new campus for the Upper Secondary and Pre-University students, crafted with exclusive amenities and decked with a modern outlook. All the floors flaunt a vibrant-colour themed carpeting, well-equipped science laboratories, ICT laboratories which are fully furnished for the incorporation of STEM education and a modern library, complete with a discussion room.

Our café displays a myriad of casual dining and quick bites for our students. The impressive lounge is a fun-filled place for students to unwind and relax after long lecture sessions. SJIS Campus 2 will continue to develop in time and will undoubtedly become one of the leading international schools in Malaysia.

The St. John’s International School’s (SJIS) Award Day Ceremony is held on February annually to honour and acknowledge high achievers and top scorers, as well as special category award recipients in academic and extra-curricular activities. This event stands as a prestigious moment for both teachers and students alike, not forgetting parents who witness their children being rewarded for their hard work and tenacity. SJIS pushes and recognises all achievements

OUR EVENTS

AWARD CEREMONY

A school without games and sports is unthinkable, as they have become a fundamental element of present-day education. True sportsmanship is always visible as our students stand as contenders to be the best. SJIS Sports Day looks at preparation done months in advance. We provide a holistic learning experience for our students.

Tunku Abdullah Debate Challenge (TADC) honours the memory of the late Tunku Tan Sri Abdullah, son of Malaysia's first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who had left his legacy in the world of commerce, development and politics, apart from being noted for his inspiring speeches. TADC is a promising, inviting and illustrious debate competition organised by St. John's International School in collaboration with Direct English Malaysia. TADC is a key event that draws participants from both national and international schools under one roof to share their brilliant ideas and vibrant debating skills.

SPORTS DAY

The SJIS Cross Country Run is an annual event where all members of the staff, parents and students take part to test their endurance and fitness level. The lush greenery of our chosen venue is not only refreshing, but also reminds us on the importance of connecting and conversing with the natural flora and fauna. The scores accumulated by the students from the various designated Sport Houses during the Cross-Country Run will be used to declare the winner of the Cross Country Challenge Trophy.

The SJIS Carnival is organised by the Interact Club and it has always proven to be a resounding success. The main aim of the carnival, apart from giving opportunities for our students to be independent entrepreneurs and able-thinkers, is to raise funds for our CSR activities, which will then be channelled to various charitable organisations.
