PRINCIPAL’S PATTER

Hello Everyone

Congratulations to our Year 5 class and their teachers Mrs Phillips and Mr

Hatton for their wonderful item at last week’s assembly, ‘All About Water’ –

very entertaining and informative!!

Many thanks to everyone who came along to the classroom parent meetings

held recently. It is most important to find out about classroom policies,

procedures etc. and to enhance communication between the school and the

home. Information given out at these meetings has also been sent home to all

those parents who couldn’t attend due to work commitments, etc. Parents are

invited to make an appointment with their child’s teacher/s at any time

throughout the year to talk about their child’s progress and any concerns they

may have.

Our student leaders attended the Young Leaders Day at the Perth Convention

Centre last Monday, March 9 and had a wonderful time mixing with students

from around the state and listening to a variety of inspirational speakers who

addressed the children, with the objective of inspiring them to make a positive

contribution to their school and also of motivating them to become great

leaders in their area of influence. Many thanks to Miss McFee for her assistance

on the day.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

Our next assembly will be held on Friday April 3, commencing

at 9.00 am with our year 2 class performing the item. Parents,

grandparents, friends and community members are very

welcome to attend.

SCHOOL PHOTOS – Photo Hendricks

Class photos will be taken on: Wednesday18 March (Kindy A – Year 6).

Kindy B will have their photo taken on Tuesday 17 March.

Parents may choose to purchase from a variety of packages. The

ordering envelope, together with the correct payment enclosed,

must be handed to the photographer on the day the photos are

taken. Envelopes will be sent home today. All information is printed on

the envelope.

Family photos will be taken in the library on Wednesday morning (18

March) at 8.30am. A separate envelope will be available.

On Thursday 19 March a whole school assembly will take place in the

undercover area from 9.00 – 9.40am to celebrate Harmony Day.

We ask that all students wear orange to school on this day to signify

unity and harmony.

All parents, family and friends are very welcome to attend the

assembly.

Ciao a tutti! (Hi to everyone!)

My name is Signora Franchina. I was born in

Milan, Italy and have an Italian, Greek and

Egyptian background. I’m a LOTE/EAL/D

specialist and Early Childhood teacher.

I’m very happy to be teaching Italian to students

in Years 3-6 at Balcatta Primary School this year. It has been lovely getting to know the

students these last few weeks and their enthusiasm for learning the Italian language and

culture is sensational! They have started learning

some basic greetings, explored different regions of

Italy and made some very captivating masks for

‘Carnevale.’

We are very fortunate to have an Italian classroom to

extend our language learning through role-play,

utilising Word Walls and displaying our great work.

We are in Room 2 if you would like to have a look.

If you would like to support your child in learning

Italian at home, there are Apps such as Duolingo

which are educational and easy to use.

“All About Water”

At our last assembly our class presented 4 items: - a water song - a water poem - an Olympic swimming item and information about C Y O’Connor and the Kalgoorlie pipeline.
