1950’s and Nuclear Energy

Power Plants are a safe and clean alternative to current energy

1951 – First light bulb is lit

1952 – Eisnhower moves toward nuclear energy

1954 – World’s first nuclear plant generates electricity

1959 – France builds first commercial reactor

Present Day

1970 – 2000 – Nuclear electricity is at 17%

Today there is an increase in nuclear power

Power Plants in Washington State

The Columbia Generating Station is a power plant in Washington State.

The reactor output is 1230 megawatts-electric.

It also features 6 towers that are cooled with fans.

The station was very expensive to construct and cost around 3 billion dollars.
