NUCLEAR ENERGY
The Ultimate source of Energy or weapon for Mass Destruction??
Presentation By: Ali Faizan Wattoo Muhammad Abdullah Haroon Shah
What is Nuclear Energy?
“A large amount of Energy is obtained by the splitting of heavy nuclei (e.g Uranium) which is called Nuclear Energy.”
• This heat Energy can be used to generate electricity or to propel rockets in space. It is used in nuclear weapons for destruction.
Nuclear Energy Generation: Nuclear Energy is generated on large scale in Power Plants
through fission chain reactions. 11.01% of world’s electricity is obtained by Nuclear Energy.
A nuclear chain reaction occurs when one nuclear reaction causes an average of one or more nuclear reactions, thus leading to a self-propagating series of these reactions emitting a large amount of energy which is then used to produce steam to drive generators.
Nuclear Energy: Source of Electric Power:
A nuclear power plant is a thermal power station in which ,the heat source Is a nuclear reactor, the heat is used to generate steam which drives a steam turbine connected to a generator which produces electricity.
As of 16 January 2013, the IAEA report there are 439 nuclear power reactors in operation operating in 31 countries.
Three Nuclear reactors are operating in PakistanProducing 725MW while three are in progress
Nuclear Energy: Other Uses
Nuclear

Rockets &
Missiles
Aircrafts &
Spacecrafts
Medicines
Submarines
Nuclear Energy: Source of Destruction:
Atomic Bomb:Atomic bomb is a weapon with great explosive power that results from the sudden release of energy upon the splitting, or uncontrolable fission chain reaction, of the nuclei of such heavy elements as plutonium or uranium.
The detonation of an atomic bomb releases enormous amounts of thermal energy achieving temperatures of several million degrees within region of 3-4 km.
The radiations emitted during explosion are long-lived and have damaging effect on human health even after many years of explosion Did you know??In 1945, Atomic bombing on Hiroshima & Nagasaki killed 246,000+ people. Thousands were injured and effected by radiations.
