Calls for a boycott ofthe Academy Awards aregrowing over the Oscars’second straight year ofmostly white nominees.Spike Lee and Jada Pin-kett Smith each saidMonday that they will notattend this year’s ceremo-ny.
In a lengthy Instagrampost, Lee said he “cannotsupport” the “lily white”Oscars. Noting that hewas writing on MartinLuther King Jr. Day, Leesaid he was fed up: “Fortywhite actors in two yearsand no flava at all,” hewrote.
In a video message onFacebook, Pinkett Smithalso said she wouldn’tattend or watch the Os-cars in February. PinkettSmith, whose husbandWill Smith wasn’t nomi-nated for his performancein the NFL head traumadrama Concussion, said“begging for acknowl-edgment, or even asking, diminishes dignity.”

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS
PRIMETIME8 PM $ NCIS Rocky Carroll — alias this show’s Vance — di-rected the new episode “Deja Vu,” which links a sailor’s murder to the renewed prominence of a global human-trafficking op-eration. The victim was about to offer related testimony, which immediately establishes a motive for the killing. A power-canceling storm gives McGee (Sean Murray) hope of finding shelter with a colleague. Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum also star.
Chris Evans is featured in ‘Marvel's Captain America: 75 Heroic Years’ on ABC.
8 PM _ New Girl Jess (Zooey Deschanel) couldn’t be happier about being summoned for jury duty — until it conflicts with her shot at a potential promotion at work — in a new episode appro-priately titled “Jury Duty.” Nick (Jake Johnson) decides he’s had it with Cece’s (Hannah Simone) lack of tidiness in the loft, but curing it is another matter. John Cho (“Selfie”) and Curtis Arm-strong (“Supernatural”) guest star. Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris also star.
8 PM * Marvel’s Captain Amer-ica: 75 Heroic Years One of the
most iconic characters in comics has been around a long time, and this new special salutes that run by showing how Steve Rogers and his shield-toting alter ego have evolved over the years. Chris Evans, who plays the part in the current Marvel movies, is among the interviewees here.
8 PM (ESQTV) Team Ninja WarriorFans of “American Ninja War-rior” are almost sure to enjoy this spinoff, in which the brutally demanding obstacle course — which requires challengers to defy gravity, physics and their own deep-seated phobias — has
been taken to a whole new level to accommodate two players.
8 PM (TRAV) Planet PrimetimeSelf-confessed pop culture and entertainment addict Karla Cavalli hosts this new series that fol-lows her as she travels the globe to explore some of the world’s most off-the-wall TV shows and what they say about their home culture. The series premiere takes her to Japan, where the country’s rigidly structured society seems wildly at odds with its mania for completely over-the-top physical comedy. Another new episode immediately follows.
