SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS

A geological mapping survey was completed on the entire Michaud claim group. Outcrop exposures were restricted to the southeast corner of the property and consisted of pillowed and massive mafic flows with later diabasic intrusives.

Further drilling is recommended in order to evaluate the potential of these claims.

INTRODUCTION

This is a report on a geological survey completed on fifty-three (53) claims in southern Michaud Township forming part of the Michaud group held by Nahanni Mines Limited (T-951). The claims covered in this survey areas follows:

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The claim group is located approximately 18 miles east southeast of the village of Matheson and 22 miles north of the town of Kirkland Lake in Michaud Township (Figures l and 2). Access to the western portion of the property is via old mining/logging roads south from Highway 101 at Perry Lake. The eastern portion of the property is accessible via forestry access roads for lumbering.

PREVIOUS EXPLORATION

The first reported work performed on this property was in 19^7/48 with Wright-Hargraves Mines Limited drilling two holes in the SWi, Si, L10, Con. II. They reported assays in hole 2 of 0.1 oz./ton Au over 3.5 feet as well as several lower assays over similar widths in syenitic rock.

7.

In 196? Amax Exploration Inc. drilled two holes in the Si, lot 4, Con. II with hole KX-26 returning an assay of 0.01 oz./ton Au over five feet in altered grey wacke.

In 197-8 Nahanni Mines Limited acquired thecentral portion of the property with cut line and geophysical surveys performed in late 1979 and early 1980. The western portion of the property was acquired in November 1980, with line cutting and geophysical surveys completed by July, 1981. Parts of the eastern portion were restaked in late 1981 with linecutting and geophysics completed by December, 1981,

Nahanni Mines Limited completed four drill holes on the property in February and March, 1982. Holes M-82-1, M-82-2 and M-82-3 were drilled in the SWi, Si, Lot 2, Con. II. Hole M-82--4 was drilled in the NE4, Si, Lot 9, Con. II. Only low gold values were encountered.

SURVEY PROCEDURE

Detailed mapping was completed by Nahanni Mines Limited personnel in September, October and November, 1982. The property is covered by a grid system consisting of a 7.6 kilometre baseline at an azmith of 90 0 and 84.6 kilometres of cross lines at 100 metre intervals.

TOPOGRAPHY

The property is covered by flat spruce, alder and poplar swamps with occasional sand rises forming

8.

the only relief along the north boundary of the group. The sand ridges are glacial outwash sand and gravel deposits reworked by wind and water action. The sand rises roughly trend east-west and are sparsely covered with spruce, poplar and Jackpine.

The Pike River (2 to 3 metres wide) traverses the eastern portion of the property and flows from north east to southwest.

The only outcrop on the property occurs in the southeast corner of the eastern sheet (Map 3) in the area of claims L-591312, L-591313, L-591316 and L-591317.

REGIONAL GEOLOGY

The Township of Michaud was mapped in 19^6 by J. Satterly (Map No. 19*17-3) for the Ontario Department of Mines. Satterly shows a series of felsic, mafic and ultramafic flows and sediments intruded by syenite and granite.

The Destor-Porcupine fault zone traverses the township from the east near the north half of concession III to the west somewhere near the north half of concession I. The exact location of the fault zone can only be estimated west of lot 4, concession III due to the lack of outcrop and drill information.

North of the Destor-Porcupine fault zone the mafic flows are intruded by syenite and granite. The syenite hosting the Garrison Creek Mines Ludgate Lake deposit contains porphyritic feldspars and is strongly hematized in the area of gold mineralization.

9.

PROPERTY GEOLOGY

The southeast portion of the property (Map 3) is underlain by southeast facing mafic flows. The flows are massive to pillowed, light green in colour, and trend roughly northeast - southwest. North of this outcrop area and underlying the mafic volcanics are sediments composed of conglomerate, argillite, chemical sediments of chert and graphite.

The only other information available on the property is from Nahanni drilling on claim L-521^13. This hole (M-82-JJ) was entirely within syenite. The contact between the mafic volcanics and the syenite (Map 2) was .interpreted from the magnetometer data.

The location of the Destor-Porcupine fault zone on the property is assumed from geophysics to enter the property at the north boundary at 7W and trend southwest to leave the property in the area of line 33W on the southboundary.

From previous work there appears to be a band of sediments thickening to the east and lying Just south of the Destor-Porcupine fault zone.

10.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Further work on this property should consist of drilling of geophysical but more importantly geological target areas. First priority should be to locate the Destor-Porcupine. fault zone, a regional structure associated with economic gold mineralization. Secondly, more drilling should be carried out in the area of the syenite body as the syenite intersected in hold M-82-4 appears identical with gold mineralization syenite at Ludgate Lake.

Notice of Intent

for Technical ReportsOntario

1983 08 10

2.5312

An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.

If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.

If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded.

If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Lands Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be issued.
