Racing Commission - eligibility requirementsYou may not be eligible for a position on the Racing Commission if you are or become:

a member of the committee, or an employee of a registered club or

interested or concerned, whether directly or indirectly, in the business carried on by a bookmaker, a betting exchange operator or the holder of an NT licence to operate a casino or

a person managing or controlling an office or agency established under section 23 of the Totalizator Administration and Betting Act or

a rider or driver of horses, whether professionally or not, in horse races or trotting.

Disclosure ObligationsA member of the commission who has a direct or indirect interest in a matter being considered or about to be considered by the commission, must disclose the nature of the interest at a meeting as soon as practicable.

RemunerationThe available positions come with a remuneration package.

The Racing Commission is a Class B Quasi-Judicial Body.

Further InformationThe Racing Commission will conduct meetings every 4-6 weeks to determine issues across a range of its responsibilities.

Members may expect to spend up to 20 hours a month on commission business.

In addition, hearings are conducted and special meetings will be held on an ‘as needs’ basis in relation to specific and urgent matters that can arise from time to time.

Members will also be required to travel to Alice Springs occasionally.
