• Free loan of equipment for use in your own healthcare environment (conditions apply).
• AV/IT support is provided through the Flinders ICT team.

Training for facilitators and instructors
The NT Sim Lab offers individualised training for new and old facilitators and instructors on the use of mannequins, technology equipment and how to develop and run simulations. Please contact the NT Sim Lab if you would like to participate in a training session.

Room descriptions
Ward space Room type: Ward space for scenarios Capacity: Can accommodate up to 2-3 stations (clinical skills or scenarios); 6-8 learners at a time Details: Hospital ward equipment and consumables (e.g. resuscitation trolley, IV poles, patient trolleys), whiteboard, chairs and teaching tables; video recording equipment for filming of scenarios
Consult room 1 Room type: Consult room for simulated patient scenarios Capacity: up to 4 learners, 1 educator, 1 simulated patient Details: as per a GP consult room (patient paperwork, computer, ophthalmoscope etc.); video recording for filming of scenarios
Consult room 2 Room type: Consult room for simulated patient scenarios Capacity: up to 4 learners, 1 educator, 1 simulated patient Details: as per a GP consult room (patient paperwork, computer, ophthalmoscope etc.); video recording for filming of scenarios

MegaCode Kelly A cost-effective mannequin for training a wide range of advanced lifesaving skills. We have 2 x Advanced and 2 x Basic mannequins. 4
MegaCode Kid For training in a wide range of paediatric advanced life saving skills in pre-hospital emergencies 1
SimMom An advanced full-body interactive birthing simulator enabling a wide wide range of midwifery and obstetric skills to be taught. 1
Nursing Baby Includes sounds auscultation, IV and IO skills, urinary catheterization and general paediatric patient care. 1
Newborn Anne Anne can be intubated; a UVC inserted; she has intraosseus access, can have meconium aspirated and has a pulsating umbilical stump. 2

Trainer Provides exposure to a larger and older patient for CPR training to show the adaptations required for this type of patient. 3
Junior CPR Trainer Life-like child trainer used to learn basic CPR techniques. 4
Adult Airway Management
Lifelike upper torso and head simulates real-world complications when practicing a variety of intubation, ventilation, and suction techniques. 2
Infant Airway Management
Provides the realistic anatomy of a 3-month-old infant for teaching and practicing basic and advanced airway management skills. 2
PICC Line Trainer Upper torso model with right arm designed for practicing insertion, care, and removal of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Lines. 1

Full size, male, female and child arms for intravenous cannulation practice. 2 of each
Vascular Access Chest
A human torso with detachable right arm designed for the insertion, care, and removal of common long-term vascular access routes. 1

GENERAL USER GUIDELINES
1. Users and visitors are asked to sign in and out using the book at the entrance.
2. Users and visitors are required to store their personal belongings in the Walker Room. The Lab is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
3. Users are expected to be punctual for their sessions.
4. Users are expected to adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct while using the NT Sim Lab.
5. Users are not permitted to photograph or video any activities at the Lab unless authorised to do so.
6. Users are asked to sign a video/photograph release form prior to any simulation activity
7. Please keep the doors closed at all times.
8. Gloves must be worn when handling any equipment including the mannequins.
9. NO food is to be taken into the NT Sim Lab. Food or drink may be consumed in the Walker Room.
10. NO pens and markers are to be used near the mannequins. It is impossible to remove the marks.
11. Observe all safety notices and emergency procedures and report all injuries to staff. The First Aid box is located on the table near the front wall.
EQUIPMENT 12. Know the equipment. Do not use equipment if you have not received the appropriate
training.
13. All users are required to attend a simulation training session before utilizing the mannequins.
14. All medications used in clinical practice scenarios are either expired or simulated. They are not to be used for patient medication under any circumstances.
15. Report any breakages or damaged or malfunctioning equipment to Lab Staff.
16. Equipment must not be removed or borrowed from the NT Sim Lab without prior approval from Lab Staff.
17. The NT Sim Lab should be left clean and tidy by all learners and staff. Clean up after yourself and put everything back where it belongs.
Remember: the equipment is valuable. Please treat it with care.
