NSS Activity Report- 2016-17
1. Help Desk (05-07-2016)
NSS units of GJUS&T, Hisar organized Help Desk during the new admission in the
University campus. Around fifteen NSS volunteers were involved for guiding the admission
seekers in M.B.A. and M. Com. Course offered by the University. NSS volunteers helped the
student/visitors regarding their queries for admission/ counseling process.
2. Help Desk (07-07-2016 to 15-07-2016)
NSS units of GJUS&T, Hisar organized Help Desk during the new admission in the
University campus. Around twenty five NSS volunteers were involved for guiding the
admission seekers in the various courses (M. Sc., M. Tech., B. Pharma, etc.) offered by the
University. NSS volunteers helped the student/visitors regarding their queries for admission/
counseling process.
3. Tree Plantation (24-08-2016)
The NSS unit of GJUS&T along with the Horticulture department of the university celebrated
“Van-Mahotsava” on 24-08-2016 in the university campus. Around 200 fruit plants were
planted near STP and 200 samplings of green plants all around the campus. Prof. Tankeshwar
Kumar Vice chancellor of the university grace the occupation as chief guest and said that
plantation plays an important role in keeping the environment clean and green. Dr. Anil
Kumar Pundir also planted fruit trees and said that everyone should plant at least one tree on
his/her birthday. About 100 NSS volunteers participated in the event. On this occasion Sh.
Ashok Ahlawat, Prof. Sandeep Rana, Dr. S.B. Luthra, Dr. Krishana Ram Bishnoi, Prof.
Sujata Sanghi, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Vijender Pal Saini, Mrs. Suman
Dahiya were also present.
4. NSS Day (24-09-2016)
The NSS day (24-09-2016) was celebrated by NSS volunteers of the University at
Mayur Rangmanch near university library. In this event volunteers cared a cleanliness drive
at the Mayur Rangmanch and in the evening organized a cultural programme dedicated to
nation. Prof. Sujata Sanghi (NSS Coordinator) presided over the function and motivated the
volunteers to maintain self-discipline and punctuality in life. The programme officer Mrs.
Suman Dahiya, Dr. Kashmiri Lal and Dr. Anil Kumar also participated in the celebration.
First of all, the NSS song was sung by a group of volunteers, proceeding with a skit on
‘Importance of Blood Donation. At the end, an energetic duet dance performance was
presented by students. The event was well planned and organized by NSS volunteers. All the
volunteers participated in the event with zeal and enthusiasm.
5. State level Blood Donation camp (27-09-2016)
National Service Scheme of the university organized a state level blood donation on
28-09-2016 at Birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Golden Jubilee of Haryana.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Vice chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief Guest on this
occasion. Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir Registrar of our university was the guest of honor. For
origination of this camp around 400 NSS volunteers worked day and night for four weeks.
They visited to city and various institution to mobilize and aware the youth for benefit of
blood donation through the different activities like flash-mob, nuked natak and street plays.
They also approached the social media: Facebook, Watsapp, F.M Radio, etc for wide
publicity of the blood donation camp. With these great efforts by the volunteers a total of
1426 units of blood were collected. This includes the 272 female participation. The blood
donation was started by Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir, who himself donated blood on this occasion.
The Vice chancellor of the University highlighted the importance of blood donation camps
and appreciated the organization of the event. He said that each blood donor is our real hero.
Blood Donation does not discriminate among the religion, caste and gender. He appreciated
the work of NSS units of organize such a mega camp. Prof. Sujata Sanghi, NSS coordinator
of the university emphasize that blood donation is a service to mankind. Such type of
activities is helpful in the personality development of students.
On this occasion poster exhibition cum-competition on three different themes: Blood
Donation: A gift for life, Freedom fighters of India, and Glorious 50 years of Haryana was
also organized. The objectives of the competition were to create awareness and seeking
creative suggestions from students. More than 200 posters were received and displayed
during the exhibition and winners were awarded by the chief guest. Teaching, Non-Teaching
staff and students of the university also participated in the day long camp with full
enthusiasm. All NSS Programme Officers Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Vijender
Pal Saini, Mrs. Suman Dahiya worked dedicatedly for the organization of this camp.
6. Pre-Rd Parade Selection camp (07-10-2016)
The NSS unit of GJUS&T, organized a Pre-RD Parade Selection camp on 07-10-2016 for
selection of NSS volunteers for Pre- RD camp to be organized by Government of India,
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, and Regional Directorate of Chandigarh on 24th October
to 4th November 2016 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Sector-25 Chandigarh. In this camp
around 45 NSS volunteers from NSS GJUS&T Hisar, NSS CCSHAU, Hisar and NSS CDLU,
Sirsa, participated. 8 volunteers (4male+4Female) were recommended for Pre-RD camp
along with four volunteers in the waiting list.
7. Digital India Workshop (21-10-2016)
The NSS units of GJUS&T organized one-day workshop on Digital India in
association with National e-Governance Division and State e-Governance Mission Team of
Government of India on dated 21-10-2016 at GJUS&T, Hisar. 220 NSS volunteers, 20
Programme officers/Teachers and 30 Officials participated in this workshop form different
institutes of Haryana. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Vice chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar and Dr.
Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar of our university addressed the participants through video
clipping. Sh. M. P. Kulshreshtha, Technical Director, NIC, Hisar was the key note speaker on
this occasion. He told that at this time only 30 to 40 % peoples of India are digitally literate.
However, after these digital India Programs all the government services will be available to
each and all citizens. During the workshop four events/competitions: Skit show competition,
Quiz competition, Think, Plan and Execute competition, Poster Making Competition were
organized and first two team winners in each category were given prizes.
8. Pre-RD Parade Camp (26-10-2016 to 04-11-2016)
Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, and Regional Directorate
of Chandigarh organized Pre-Republic day parade camp from 26th October to 4th November
2016 at Jawahar Navodaya VidyalayaSector-25Chandigarh. Two NSS volunteers Mr.
Arvinder Pal Singhand Mr. Mandeep participated in the camp from NSS units of GJUS&T,
Hisar.
9. Rashtriya Ekta Divas (31-10-2016)
The NSS unit of the university observed National Unity day on the occasion of birth
anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.NSS volunteers visited classrooms of various
Departments of the University and took pledge for the unity of our country.The.Prof. Sujata
Sanghi, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Vijender Pal Saini, Mrs. Suman Dahiya were
also present.
10. Rahagiri (06-11-2016)
The NSS volunteers of GJUS&T participated in rahagiri organized by the Hisar Police
Administration. The volunteers performed a Nukad Natika on Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao.
11. City Cleanliness Drive (22-11-2016)
The GJUS&T in collaboration with district administration organized a cleanliness drive in the
city Under the slogan of ‘Swachch Bharat Swasth Bharat’. The Vice Chancellor of the
University Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar inaugurated the drive himself taking the first step. It
inspired one and all to keep and maintain a clean surrounding. Progrmme officer, members of
teaching and non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers initiated the drive for cleanliness. The
students and staff of the university worked as a team on this occasion and participated in the
Swachh Haryana- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and covered the three different areas: Sunder
Nagar, Padav Chowk, Bus Stand Hisar.Sh. Ashok Ahlawat, Prof. Sandeep Rana, Dr. S.B.
Luthra, Dr. Krishana Ram Bishnoi, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Mrs. Suman Dahiya
were also present.

12. One-week Orientation Training (22-11-2016 to 28-11-2016)
The NSS units of GJUS&T in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of
Youth Development (RGNIYD), an Institute of National Importance of Ministry of Youth
Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, organized one-week Orientation Training for NSS
Programme Officers from 22 to 28 November, 2016 at GJUST, Hisar. 51 participants from
the State attended the training. The Orientation Training was inaugurated on 22-11-2017.
Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony of the Orientation Training for NSS Programme
Officers was Sh. Hemant Kumar Sharma, Deputy Programme Advisor, NSS Regional
Directorate, Delhi Region, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Other dignitaries present in
the occasion were Dr. Kapender Singh, State Nodal Officer, NSS, Haryana, Dr. Sujata
Sanghi, Programme Coordinator, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Dr. Suman Dahiya
Programme Officer, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar and Ms. Amanpreet, Sr. Training
Coordinator, RGNIYD RC Chandigarh. In the inaugural address Sh. Hemant urged the
participants to take this training as an opportunity to grow and learn from each other. This
training would make them aware about the NSS in a detailed manner since they all are newly
recruited POs. Dr. Sujata welcomed all the guests, resource persons and other dignitaries on
behalf of GJUs&T, Hisar. Dr. Kapendar again motivated the participants with his insightful
thoughts.
Sh. Hemant Sharma described the Vision, Mission, Objectives and History Administrative
Structure of NSS. Dr. Kapender explained how to successfully organize NSS regular
activities and special camps. He mentioned that a NSS officer is a guide, philosopher, friend
and a guide. He explained the aims of the NSS programmes/activities.
Dr. Sushma Joshi, Programme Coordinator, BPS Khanpur Kalan gave a detailed description
about proper documentation required to apply for the awards (state and IG award). During the
day session on Life Skills was organized by Ms. Amanpreet, Sr. Training Coordinator,
RGNIYD RC, Chandigarh.
Prof. Tejinder Sharma, Ex Programme Coordinator NSS, Department of Commerce,
Kurukshetra University, focusing on the motto “Not Me but You”. He further explained the
history of India. According to Mahatma Gandhi the education system should be Holistic
which should include mental, spiritual, emotional, physical and social. Professor Karampal
elaborated a talk on ‘Resources Management’ as NSS POs are expected to utilize the scarce
resources in the best possible way to meet their goal. Sh. Parveen, Director, PDCPA
motivated the Programme Officers with his skillful lecture on positive attitude in life. The
session started with a video followed by discussion on various strategies used to make the
teaching/facilitation skills effective.
Prof. Sandeep Rana, Department of Psychology, Guru Jambheshwar University, explained
that we should consider the individuality of all since all are different human beings. Dr.
Karampal defined what social media is and how is it important. He raised a question whether
we are managing the social media well? A long discussion was taken up to discuss the pros
and cons of social media and how the NSS POs can use the media to the best possible way.
His next session was of documentation. Ms. Amanpreet took the last session where she
explained various methodologies used to deliver sessions in a more interesting way. During
the orientation Programme a cultural evening were also organized by the NSS volunteers and
participants. On the last day of the training Sh. Stazin Dawa, director,RGNIYD, Chandigarh
interacted with the participants as the key note speaker of the concluding session.

13. World AIDS Day (01-12-2016)
NSS units of GJUST organized world AIDS Day on 01-12-2016 by starting an awareness
drive against AIDS. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Vice chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief
Guest on this occasion and he said that the AIDS can be controlled by sensitizing society. Dr.
Anil Kumar Pundir Registrar of the university was the guest of honor. The Programme
involved the interactions between volunteers and people. On this occasion NSS Volunteers made a
human chain and started a Red Ribbon campaign to aware the peoples in the University campus. On
the day Prof. Sujata Sanghi, NSS Coordinator GJUS&T addressed volunteers and asked them to
spread out the information regarding the ways to prevent the HIV/AIDS from society. Prof. Sujata
Sanghi, Prof. Ashish Aggarwal, Prof. Devendra Mohan, Prof. Sandeep Arya, Dr. Deepak
Kedia, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Vijender Pal Saini, Mrs. Suman Dahiya were
also present.
14. Blood Donation Camp-2017(18-03-2017)
National Service Scheme of the university organized a blood donation camp 18-03-
2017 on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Haryana. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Vice
chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief Guest on this occasion. For the organization of the
camp around 200 volunteers worked day and night. A total 508 blood unites were collected
that includes 77 units from female donor. Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the
volunteers with the words “one can know the impotence of blood donation at the time of
need/emergency. Through this noble cause we are serving the Nation for its up-liftment and
development. Prof. Harbhajan Bansal (DSW) was the first donor. Prof. Sujata Sanghi, NSS
coordinator of the university emphasize that blood donation is a service to mankind. Such
type of activities is helpful in the personality development of students. Non-Teaching staff
and students of the university also participated in the day long camp with full enthusiasm. All
NSS programme officers Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Vijender Pal Saini, Mrs.
