Aryabhata – the Astronomer

When I am with you, I am reminded of Aryabhata who was born in 476 AD in Kusuma-pura (now called

Patna) Bihar. Aryabhata was both an astronomer and mathematician. He was known to represent a

summary of all Maths at that point of time. Just when he was only 23 years old, he wrote his book

ARYABHATIYAM in two parts. He covered important areas like arithmetic, algebra (first ever contributor),

trigonometry and of course, astronomy. He gave formulae for the areas of a triangle and a circle and

attempted to give the volumes of a sphere and a pyramid. He was the first to give value of P (pi). All of you

are fortunate to be in this land where Aryabhata walked and walked and dreamt mathematics. I am sure, stsome of you may turn-out to be a Aryabhata of 21 century. Keeping this in mind, I would like to share with

you few thoughts on the topic Technology and societal transformations.

Friends, during my education an important milestone was the final year project. I would like to narrate

the technique used by my professor to inject urgency in completing our task in time.

Learning integrated system design.

I was assigned a project to design a low-level attack aircraft together with six other colleagues. I was

given the responsibility of system design and system integration by integrating the team members. Also, I

was responsible for aerodynamic and structural design of the project. The other five of my team took up the

design of propulsion, control, guidance, avionics and instrumentation of the aircraft. My design teacher

Prof. Srinivasan, the then Director of MIT, was our guide. He reviewed the project and declared my work to

be gloomy and disappointing. He didn't lend an ear to my difficulties in bringing together data base from

multiple designers. I asked for a month's time to complete the task, since I had to get the inputs from five of

my colleagues without which I cannot complete the system design. Prof. Srinivasan told me "Look, young

man, today is Friday afternoon. I give you three days time. By Monday morning, if I don't get the

configuration design, your scholarship will be stopped." I had a jolt in my life, as scholarship was my

lifeline, without which I cannot continue with my studies. There was no other way out but to finish the

task. My team felt the need for working together round the clock. We didn't sleep that night, working on the

drawing board skipping our dinner. On Saturday, I took just an hour's break. On Sunday morning, I was

near completion, when I felt someone's presence in my laboratory. It was Prof. Srinivasan studying my

progress. After looking at my work, he patted and hugged me affectionately. He had words of appreciation:

"I knew I was putting you under stress and asking you to meet a difficult deadline. You have done great job

in system design”.

Through this review mechanism Prof Srinivasan, really injected the necessity of understanding the

value of time by each team member and brought out engineering education has to lead system design,

system integration and system management. I realized that if something is at stake, the human minds get

ignited and the working capacity gets enhanced manifold. That's what exactly happened. This is one of the

techniques of building talent. The message is that young in the organization, whatever is their

specialization, be trained to systems approach and projects, which will prepare them for new products,

innovation and undertaking higher organizational responsibilities. Friends, you should get ready to

acquire knowledge in an integrated way for using multiple disciplines towards product development and

its management, right from the undergraduate engineering programme.

Conclusion.

Finally, I would like to ask you, what would you like to be remembered for? You have to evolve yourself

and shape your life. You should write it on a page. That page may be a very important page in the book of

human history. And you will be remembered for creating that one page in the history of the nation –

whether that page is the page of invention, the page of innovation or the page of discovery or the page of

creating societal change or a page of removing the poverty or the page of fighting injustice or planning and

executing a mission of networking of rivers, particularly in Bihar by connecting the rivers system of Bihar

into a waterway and find a lasting solution for perennial floods and drought of the state.

My best wishes to all the members of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology for success in the mission

of developing quality technological human resource for contributing towards national development.

May God bless you.

His vision was mirrored in the work of Sitwanto Devi Mahila Kalyan Sansthan. Education was the prime motive to work for him as a Social Entrepreneur . Netaji subhas Public School the state of Jharkhand was his first establishment in 1999 Under the aegis of SDMKS and with Affiliation from CBSE. The wings of NSPS expanded to multiple location in Jharkhand ( Pokhari, Parsudih, Bardih, Rakha Mines). The school aimed to enhance the reach of quality education in the rural parts of Jamshedpur and nearby areas.

In 2005 he came up with Netaji Subhas Institute of Business Management in Jamshedpur offering BBA , BCA & MBA next leap was Netaji Subhas School of Education which came in to existence in

2012offereing B.Ed. Next in the offering was Netaji Subhas Institute of Hotel Management & Catering was established in 2014 churning out world class Hotel Management Graduate. In the year 2008 the society came up with an Engineering Institute “ Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology” in Bihta near Patna the state Capital of Bihar. He dreamt of providing quality education at an affordable cost to deserving students and NSIT has been justifying his vision since inspection.

Last but not the least , his new project in Bihta “Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital” which is proposed in Bihta, near Patna in Bihar will be a feather on the cap and a milestone in the journey of SDMKS.

ManagingSoft Skills for

Personality Development

Our soft skills training solutions are a shortcut to experience. By giving the right inputs, we can bring the workforce up the learning curve in a fast, cost-effective and timely manner. This not only saves learning time but also helps build and refine a company's workforce, leading to operational excellence and an improvement in the use of english at work.

Soft Skill Development Cell :

Hence, our training is designed to gratify to all three types of learners so that everyone in the audience can shop up the material in their own unique learning style. We use Power Point, Movie clips, Video Clips with help the visual learners; the trainers speak about this material & encourage group interface which help the auditory learners, and role plays, business cases, games, activities help the kinesthetic learners to experience the concepts that are presented. In order to facilitate the process of learning, we follow the adult Learning Process and ensure the 85% fo our trainings are pragmatic.

The three primary ways that human beings learn are (VAK):-

Visual - Learning through Seeing/VisualsAuditory - Learning through listeningKinesthetic - Learning Primarily through experiencing it.

Our Training Methodology :

The research and development cell at NSIT aims to promote research , analysis and qualitative way of studies. Under the umbrella of Research & Development cell the students of Diploma & B.Tech will be given access to world class training programmes along with certification to enhance their technical understanding which will promote their employability. To enhance their general thought process in technical domain the students will be thrown open to various workshops, Conferences and project competition to say the least. Currently The research and development cell is working vigorously in the area of robotics , Advanced CAD & CAM based work, Customized software development and extensive work on Embedded System with an integration with VLSI to say the least. The research & Development cell will emphasize on the overall technical Skill development of the future budding engineers.

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology provides prime focus to research development and in this endeavor we at NSIT keep organizing various workshops , seminars and conferences. In the past academic session the major events were One day workshop on "Electronics System & Manufacturing Design" & another was extensive workshop on "Internet Security and Ethical Hacking". We at our Institution Promote the idea of sharing knowledge, so we keep on organizing seminars & conferences.

Entrepreneurship is an increasingly important element of economic growth and development. The significance of entrepreneurship as one of the key factors of economic development hardly needs to be emphasized. It is nowadays globally recognized as a critical resource in the economic development process of a country.
