What We Do
We help to bring the National PTA mission to life for every child through
program strategies that support and encourage family engagement,
student health and safety, and arts in education. We achieve this by
providing state and local PTAs, and other school decision-makers with:
• Evidence-based program and community mobilization strategies
• Promising practices from other PTAs and schools
• Online, over-the-phone and face-to-face trainings and technical
assistance
• Customizable program implementation tools and resources
• Customizable program marketing tools
• Program evaluation strategies
• Partnerships that enhance program development and implementation
• Funding (when available)
Family Engagement
• Take Your Family to School Week (Feb. 13-17, 2012) – 233 unites applied; 45 were funded
– National media hits included US News & World Report and
Huffington Post; local media results are in process
• Hearst Awards – 123 units applicants; recipients will be announced in late March
• Three for Me – Streamlined the registration process to improve response time
• 2012 National Title I Conference in Seattle, WA – Presented information to >500 federal, state, district and local

Learn and Earn Conferences
This day-long event with two
workshops and a keynote luncheon
promotes ways to strengthen the
partnership between parents,
schools and the community.
Each person that attends all
sessions receives free school
supplies and community resources.

PTA Emerging Minorities
Leadership Conference – Fall 2012
• Provide an intimate setting for our future leaders with a concentrated,
high-quality curriculum focused on leadership, diversity and
PTA’s program strategies and advocacy efforts
• Held in Alexandria, VA, attendees will make a Capitol Hill visit to
present PTA’s advocacy message
• At the 2012 National PTA Convention in San Jose, we will:
– Offer 7 workshops covering a variety of diversity topics
– Host an alumni Emerging Minorities Leadership (EML) evening
event with a keynote speaker focused on leadership
– Connect EML alumni during a special networking breakfast
PTA Healthy Lifestyles – Health and
Safety Initiative
• Planning for Healthy Lifestyles Month in November
• Developing a Healthy Lifestyles calendar for the Back-to-School Kit
• Drafting a strategic plan to fuel future program development and partnerships
