Date: 10th December, 2008 NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY AWARDS For Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises by National Productivity Council Dear MCCIA Members, The National Productivity council (NPC) has introduced National Productivity Awards for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.NPC has identified following three sectors, one in each category of Micro, Small and Medium. Micro Enterprises Food Processing (NIC 2 digit code 15) Small Enterprisesa)Fabricated Metal Products (NIC two digit code 28) b)Machinery & Equipment (NIC two digit code 29) c)Motor Vehicles including Auto Ancillary (NIC two digit code 34) Medium Enterprises Chemicals and Chemical Products including Pharmaceuticals (NIC two digit code 24)Objectives: 1.To encourage and motivate them for achieving higher productivity.2.To recognize their efforts to modernize their units with a view to upgrading the quality of their produce for increasing their share both in the domestic/ export markets.3.To propagate a culture of productivity/quality consciousness amongst the vast section of small scale manufacturing units.4.For innovating new technology/design and bringing in technological improvements to meet the requirements in ever-changing competitive environment in every sector.Selection Criteria:The selection will be based on four criteria viz. contribution to total output of the state, regional distribution of the enterprises, total number of factories and total employment.
