What an unbelievable month of parties across Australia All the action is on the PCA Facebook page with a queue of parties still to be posted over the next week There has been lots of newspaper radio and even television coverage of Pony Club with more to come Many of our Pony Club graduates such as Andrew Hoy Shane Rose Megan Jones and Katelyn Mallyon have shared their Pony Club story and birthday wishes We have recognised more than 100 ldquoPony Club Living Legendsrdquo who are 80 years or older After 12th June the judges will be choosing finalists for the best Pony Club cakes Follow the PCA Facebook page for your chance to vote for your favourite later this month

PCA Board changes PCA has a skills-based independent Board and its directors have limited terms Of the 8 directors 5 are elected by state Pony Club associations and 3 are appointed by PCA on the basis of specialist skills
PCA director Shannon Durrant has now served the maximum number of terms and must leave us Shannon was appointed by the PCA Board for her skills in risk management strategic planning project management marketing and communications including social media and corporate governance
PCA Director Melanie Woodward has resigned from the board due to work and family commitments Melanie was appointed for her skills in finance governance and strategy Melanie was awarded Chief Financial Officer of the year at the 2018 Australian Women in Finance awards and was recognised in the Commonwealth Bank Not-for-Profit Treasurerrsquos Awards for her contribution in this sector
PCA thanks Shannon and Melanie for their commitment as volunteers to the PCA Board and the PCA Audit and Risk Committee during their terms
At its meeting on 26th May 2019 the PCA board appointed two new directors
Heather Disher has many yearsrsquo experience as a Vice President Business Leader Director Consultant and Advisory for start-ups SMErsquos and Corporates by creating sustainable operations superior customer communication and high growth With previous experience as a DirectorBoard and Committee Member Heather brings global expertise within the areas of Governance Operational Development Communication Digital Transformation Strategic Development and Growth Growing up Heather and her sisters where members of the Beveridge Pony Club She remembers the joy of riding to events the bond of horse and rider and being a part of a community that encourages education and teamwork Heather looks forward to continuing a focus of participation education and awareness along with increasing the profile of PCA and equestrian sports
Mark Trayling has been involved in business development marketing and finance over many years in India the United Arab Emirates and the United States Hes passionate about education and animals and joins Pony Club Australia with the aim to encourage more people to form connections with animals through riding He has a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Economics from University College London (UCL) a Master of Business Law and an MBA from the Ivy League institute Columbia University and is a Chartered Marketer (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia Mark is also a member of the Royal Western India Turf Club and first connected with horses while spending time on the stud farm of a dear family friend

Applications are open for travel to China in July amp August Pony Club Australia has received invitations to send a number of teams to China in July and August The application forms are on the PCA website
httpwwwponyclubaustraliacomauEventsInternationaleventsaspx CoachesManagers will need to be capable and Pony Club-accredited to instruct E and D certificate riders Looking after a team in a different country is a demanding role for team coaches These trips are about cultural exchange more than competition Depending on the China Pony Club centre some teams may stay in pairs with Chinese families and others in hotel accommodation PCA will select team members according to their suitability for the program at the centre For example some centres have smaller ponies as most China Pony Club riders are younger All applications submitted for team places for April and May trips will be considered however if you would like to submit an updated application that is welcomed
