The beautiful leaves have almost fal len due to a

strong wind and rain which opens the beginning of

winter. Thanksgiving and Advent season are coming

to us soon. How do you live in this autumn?

As we already know, prayer is a dialogue with

God. I t is also a means to a right relationship with

God. As a conversation is made of speaking and

listening, our prayer is similar. We earnestly request

our weakness, hope, and desire to God in our prayer.

But, at the same time, we must try to l isten to the

voice of God in our prayer l ife. I f we do not try it, we

might be a self-centered Christian.

“How much time do you invest in making a deep

spiritual relationship with God in your daily l ife?”

“How often do you ask your questions about l ife's

problems of God in a

prayer?” When you

experienced difficult

l ife challenges; brokenrelationship,

physical and

mental i l lness,financial problem, layoff,

and others, “Have you

ever asked those

problems of God

Greetings in theNameofOurLord!

through your prayer deeply, seriously, and ceaselessly?” Who

is your mentor and counselor for those challenges and

problems we experience? Do you meet with a psychologist, a

close friend, and financial consultant? Or Do you talk with

almighty God who has clear answers for al l problems? When

we listen careful ly to answers from God in a conversation with

God, we can receive clear answers and God’s wil l about al l

problems we encounter.

The Pauline Epistles of 1 3, written by Apostle Paul, were

precise answers about ultimate questions for faith, Christian

doctrines, and pastoral duties that the Apostol ic church and the

church members encountered. I t means that while Paul

encountered various problems throughout his l ife, he

ceaselessly asked, asked, and asked God for answers about

the problems. He final ly got clear answers about the problems

through a deep spiritual relationship with God. Therefore, Paul

could encourage and lead his co-ministers and the first church

members into a right way of faith through the letters of Paul.

Winter is soon coming to us. Even though the winter of

Chicago is bitterly cold, it wil l be a time as well as a chance for

us to have a deep, close relationship with God. I f you are now

in worry and anxiety caused by difficult problems of your l ife, I

want to suggest that “Would you try to have a deep spiritual

relationship with God in this winter?” Undoubtedly, there is real

peace, joy, and happiness from heaven in a close relationship

with God. I hope gracious God is within you day by day. †

Crop Walk was Sept.23 at the

Presbyterian church. There were 18

walkers that collected $1325.10.

Part of that money will be returned

to CCC to be used for food vouchers

and our food baskets at Easter and

Christmas. We thank the walkers

and the folks that donated money

to the walkers. †

There are just too many “Godincidences” connected with the Sweetest Daydinner, I really want to share them with you.In the weeks leading up to the Sweetest Day dinner for the ladies there seemedto be one crisis after another in my life. I was unhappy that I did not have thetime that I wanted in preparing for the dinner. The day of the dinner I was absolutely worn out. That’s when I bombardedGod with my requests.1. Lord, I have no decorations – please help me figure out how to makethis special for the ladies.Enter Sue Arnolts. Sue transformed the dining room with things she foundthroughout the church. I was ecstatic! The room was better than I had dreamed.2. Lord, I couldn’t make my pumpkin fudge, I sure wish I had an extraspecial treat for the ladies.Enter Dale Hoke. Dale showed up with boxes of Fannie Mae meltaways. How perfect.3. Lord, I want special music for the ladies. Something to help make themrelax and unwind.Enter Terry Kemp. Terry did a wonderful job. His music added so muchto the evening.4. Lord, I am so tired, please just help me get through the night.Enter Dennis Loescher, Dale Hoke, Gary Cater, Jerry Spires, and Pastor Hong. The men really stepped up to the “plate” (sorry!). They prepared, baked, plated, served and cleaned up. It was awesome.5. Lord, I pray that the women will be entertained, that they will leaverefreshed, that they may find laughter and good company. These womengive so much of themselves to others. This is their time.Enter Tana Spires. Tana did a wonderful presentation, plus laughter andfun for all. It was perfect!6. Lord, the food smells so good. I am sorry that I have not given Rayanathe meals that she needs. Help me find the time this week to provide better.Enter Dale Hoke. Not sure how many to expect I had asked Dale to bring extralasagna. There was food leftover. I was able to take the leftovers home for myfamily. How wonderful.

See, God does care about the little things. All we have to do is ask. Thank youfrom the bottom ofmy heart to all who helped. May God richly bless you as hedid me on that Sunday night in October. † Patti Forrester
