Hello Argyle 8th grade families,
We have had a successful first quarter of the year! Please encourage your child to use their Student Agenda Books (S.A.B.) to write down their homework and to check it every night to ensure they are completing all of their assignments. Students should also be checking Edline frequently so they know how they are doing in class. You should have an Edline account too. If you don?t please contact the counseling office and they can set you up with one! Let?s make this second quarter even better than the first!

Why did you become a teacher?I became inspired to teach because of my high school math teachers. I did not do well in math in elementary school. I come from a family of valedictorians, so I knew I had to work really hard and persevere once I got into high school to improve my skills in math. I am hoping to inspire other students to enjoy math like I have grown to do.
What is your educational background?
Upon graduating high school, I went to college to earn my bachelor?s degree from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in the Philippines. My degree is in secondary education with a concentration in math.
Where did you teach before Argyle? I began my teaching career in the Philippines, where I taught for six years. In 2006, I participated in a teachers exchange program, and moved to Baltimore City, Maryland. I participated in this program for three years. When my school in Baltimore changed from K-8 to K-5 in 2012, I moved to Arizona to teach three years of middle school algebra. Over the summer, I applied to work in Montgomery County Public Schools. I received an offer from Argyle this July, and am thrilled to be here!
What are your goals as a teacher?I want my students to be and feel successful. I want parents and students to know that if their child needs help that I am available during lunch and after school to assist them. In the end, I really want my students to feel confident and love math as much as I do.
The SGA will be sponsoring the annual Argyle nonperishable/canned food drive from November 9th to November 20th. Items will be donated to the Manna Food Center, which serves families in need throughout Montgomery County. Last school year, Argyle donated 560 pounds of food items to the Manna Food Center. Our goal this year is to match or surpass that number. Items are to be turned into 2nd period classrooms. The class that donates the most items per student will win an ice cream social sponsored by the SGA. Every donation helps--let?s keep all Montgomery County families fed this holiday season.
