Patriots of the Week
The PTA would like to recognize Susan Guest and Elizabeth Dentler as the Patriots ofthe Week. These ladies were instrumental in planning and running Boon's RibbonWeek. Because of their hard work, students were able to dress for the daily causes,learn about various charities, and raise $2,312.96 to donate. Thank you for yourwonderful contributions to Boon and our students!

Tonight, November 3, Boon PTA will partner with Kendra Scottin Watters Creek for a special shopping event. 20% ofpurchases made between 5-8pm will be donated to Boon PTA.

Ribbon Week Results
Congratulations to EVERYONE who participated inthe 2016 Ribbon Week activities! Fun was had by
everyone, plus we learned things about variousorganizations! We were able to collect a GrandTotal of $2,312.96... giving each of the charities,$231.30! 4th grade collected the most money overall winning a POPCORN party! Congratulations to allgrades that won extra recess as daily winners!

2017 Boonsterthon - Help Wanted
The 2017 Boonsterthon needs your help as Boon PTA is taking on the Boonsterthon FunRun. This way more donations go directly back to Boon to fund programs and campuswish list items.
Volunteers are needed to make our fun run a grand success.Publicity - advertising for the event in social media & around campus.Corporate Sponsorship - recruiting local businesses to sponsor the race ordonate reward items.Logistics Planning - Pep Rally and race day planning/supplies.Rewards Planning - organizing donation level rewards and recognition.Donation website - racer set up and tracking utilizing the 99pledges.com website.Race Day volunteers - Race week is anticipated to be January 23-27.

2016 Rudolph Run
The 21st annual Rudolph Run will be held on December 3,2016. Register online until November 20. Don't forget to note that you are representing BoonElementary. $5 of your registration fee will be given back toour PE program. Participants must register with the link that is labeled Allen ISD & Lovejoy ISDSchool CreditParticipants must pick up their packets. No school delivery will be provided.

Veterans Day ReceptionFriday, November 11 -- 8:15am Boon Cafeteria
RSVP Invitations were sent home in Thursday Folders andcan be returned to the office by Monday, Nov. 7.
Students are welcome to invite a Veteran to attend.The reception will include a special program, a choir performance, Veteranintroductions, and pictures.The morning will end with a Veteran parade through the halls so that the entireschool can show their gratitude!You can also send in a photo to be displayed in our Veteran showcase by thelibrary.We are looking forward to a special day!

Hello from Music Land! We are getting ready for a SPECTACULAR VIP show coming upin just a few weeks. K-2nd grade will be singing songs that tell a story; 3rd-6th gradewill be singing songs from stories (in the form of musicals, that is). Allen Recycles Day is Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8am to1pm. Details about what items can by recycled and thelocation(s) can be found at Allen Recycles Day.
Our fall creek clean up is Saturday, November 12 from9-12pm. All clean up crew should sign in at the pavilionby Boon. Children must be accompanied by a parent atall times.
We are in need of parent volunteers to help with set up and sign-in shifts. Pleaseemail Juli Ternan to help.
Did you know? Boon recycles ALL used markers! Please collect your dried up ordull markers and place them in the bin outside the cafeteria. We send these off tobe recycled into new markers!

A huge thank you to all the students thatparticipated in the Recycled Art Contest. Boon hadthe most winners of all!
All winners from Boon will be invited to apresentation for prizes at 11am onNovember 5, in the Council Chambers atAllen City Hall. Winners are able to take home their artworkthat day.Winners will be invited to walk with the KeepAllen Beautiful staff in the Annual RotaryHoliday Parade on December 4. All participants who had artwork submitted toCity Hall will receive a participationcertificate.

Recycled Art Contest Winners
PTA Reflections Contest
The annual PTA Reflections Contest is just around the corner. Thisyear's theme is "What is Your Story?". Entry Forms and ContestRules are available in the front hallway at Boon. The deadline forentries is November 7, 2016.
Students may create and submit works in six categories: dance choreography, filmproduction, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.

Patriot Press - Only 2 Weeks Left!
The submission deadline in Friday, November 18.
Would your student like to become a published author andcreate a real hard cover book? There are only two weeks left to turn in a story! Don't beleft out. Have your student turn in their story as soon as possible so they do not miss
the deadline.
Students in grades K-6 are invited to submit their best original stories for publication.Authors may bring their stories to the Boon library and they will receive a form to becompleted. The manuscript is then submitted along with the completed form signed bythe student's teacher and parent.
Stories can be up to five handwritten pages and should not contain any violence orinappropriate language. A volunteer editor will meet with each author during schoolhours to complete the publishing process. All stories will be made into a hard coverbook and become property of the Boon Elementary Library until the student leaves(graduates or moves.) Parents will also be given the opportunity to purchase additionalcopies.
The Patriot Press program is always looking for volunteers to help edit and type thestudent's stories. It is a wonderful opportunity to work with the students or volunteerfrom home. It is a flexible schedule. Contact Mary Beth Donohue for more information.

Boon's annual science fair is just a month away, on December 8. Forthose students wanting to participate in the science fair, they will needto return a Science Fair Interest Form to the Front Office by November8. A copy of the science fair rules and science fair ideas can be found

Picture Retake Day
Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, November 8. If your child:
Is new to Boon and was not here for Picture Day inSeptemberWas absent on picture dayYou would like to purchase pictures for the first timeYour child's eyes were closed on their original picture
These students will have their pictures taken that day.
For your convenience, you may order pictures online by using our school ID#LD946481Q1. If your child will be ordering with the Picture Day form, PLEASE send it toschool with your child the morning of pictures. They will need this form in hand whentheir picture is taken.

Tomorrow, November 4, is the last day to bring in yourunopened Halloween candy. New Directions Chiropractic isteaming up with Operation Gratitude to send donated Halloween
candy to the U.S. Troops. Students may drop off theirunopened candy at Boon in exchange for a cool bookmark.

Boon is an incredible school for our children because of volunteers like YOU. Boon PTAis always looking for volunteers to contribute their time and talents to the manyactivities we sponsor throughout the year. Even if you only have an hour or two, hereand there, there is a role for you!
