God is an inexhaustible source of life. Death does not leave God without his beloved sons and daughters. Even as we mourn their loss on this earth, God sees them sparkle with life because he holds them in the embrace of a Father's faithful love. According to Jesus, the relationship of God with his children cannot be destroyed by death. His love is more powerful than our biological extinction. So we dare to call upon him with humble faith: In you I trust. O my God, do not let me be put to shame. (Psalm 25:1-2). Jesus has always been very serious when speaking about new life after the resurrection. However, when a group of aristocratic Saducees tries to ridicule faith in the resurrection of the dead, Jesus reacts by raising the issue to a level of seriousness making two basic statements. To begin with, Jesus rejects the childish idea of the Saducees

who imagine life of those raised from the dead as a continuation of this life as we know it now. It is a mistake to speak of life resurrected by God in terms of our earthly experience. There is a radical difference between our life on earth and the fullness of life sustained directly by the love of God after death. That life is absolutely new. Hence we can hope for it, but never describe or explain it. Jesus draws his own conclusion while making an important statement for our faith: God is not the God of the dead, but of the living; because to him they are all alive. Foundations for Lay Pastoral Ministry (FLPM) is a course offered by the Insti-tute of Faith Education (IFE) in partnership with Evangelisation Brisbane. There are four core workshops plus practical ministry workshops that will give participants information on a specific topic, at an introductory level, to build knowledge and confidence. The workshops encourage participants to work in small groups and network with people from other parishes. At the conclusion of each workshop participants are encouraged to complete a personal reflection, an activity /case study and a small project. Participants who success-fully complete all submissions will receive the Archdiocese Certificate. To facilitate a participant’s successful comple-tion of the FLPM course, a men-tor is assigned to each group and attends each workshop. The role of the mentor is to discuss and guide participants in creating links between the workshop & the practical application in their parish ministry role. Workshops will be hosted starting from April 29, 2017 at the Francis Rush Centre and May 13, 2017 at the Church of Twelve Apostles, Jindalee.

OUR MISSION PRAYER

We, the St Ignatius community, are called to live the good news. We pray that we become the people that Jesus Christ called us to be. We pray that we know the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit

through knowing Jesus in prayer, scripture and liturgy. We pray that we give hope to others by a practical, personal kindness, affirming each person's dignity, worth and destiny in Christ. May we live out this mission of our Christian vocation in the spirit of St. Ignatius.

∗ St Joseph of Cupertino. St Joseph of Cupertino. St Joseph of Cupertino. St Joseph of Cupertino. A Franciscan friar who lived near Naples in the 1600s. St Joseph was said to levitate when rapt with devotion during Mass. This odd power led him being declared the patron of astronauts and aviators.

∗ St Clare of Assisi. St Clare of Assisi. St Clare of Assisi. St Clare of Assisi. St Clare lived in the 13th Century. At the end of her life, she was too ill to a%end Mass but reportedly could “see” images of it on her wall, predating television by several centuries. The Pope named her patron saint of TV in 1958.

∗ St Barbara. St Barbara. St Barbara. St Barbara. This 3rd century saint’s pagan father tried to behead her after hearing of her conversion, but he was struck by lightning. Barbara became patron of artillerymen, miners and anyone else who works with things that go bang! ∗ St Drogo. St Drogo. St Drogo. St Drogo. This 12th century Frenchman must have been last in line when patronages were being

handed out. Among other things, he’s patron of coffee-shop owners, gall stones, hernias, ruptures, sheep, and people others find repulsive.

∗ St Germaine CousinSt Germaine CousinSt Germaine CousinSt Germaine Cousin. Sickly St Germaine lived a lonely life as a shepherdess in a forest near Toulouse in the 1500s, but the surrounding wolves never bothered her flocks. She is known as the patron saint of country girls and abandoned people.
