“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3
Pastor’s Column: “Go Where I Send Thee”
Where Can I Serve?
This Saturday is one of only two days all year that our Trustees invite the Whole Church to turn out for a couple hours together of cleaning and maintaining our grounds: it’s an All-Church Clean
Up Day, starting at 9:00 am (including the generous promise of coffee, donuts and friendly people!).
Bring lawn care equipment and some gloves, and help our Trustees and our Church family be good
stewards of what God has given us!
There is a huge opportunity to be part of a very fun evening, one of our biggest youth event’s all year, our Junior & Senior High’s “Friendsgiving” – the big Thanksgiving meal we put on in our Sanctuary for our youth and especially their friends, who gather in a safe environment for food and
fellowship together, including an encouraging word on Jesus! Ashley is “freeing” her usual slate of youth volunteers to be in fellowship at the tables, so we are especially seeking help from “the larger
church” to be servers and helpers that evening. You can also donate food, including turkeys, side dishes, and desserts. Easiest way to volunteer is to follow this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/

Our “Serve” ministries are inviting folks to sign up to assist with meals to homeless women in our community through KentHope. There is a sign up in our foyer!
Where Can I Pray?
This coming Wednesday, November 11th, join Pastor James in our sanctuary for a “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” with no agenda but to lift up prayers together as a people for our families, our community, our church, our nation, our soldiers and veterans (it is Veterans Day), and our world. We’ll share
prayer requests for about 10 minutes, and then spend the remainder of the time lifting our hearts together to God.
Our Prayer Team is also always inviting new participants, to pray with folks either on
Communion Sundays or after Sunday Worship services, you can speak with Kimberley in the office or with our Prayer Team chair Stan Gardner!
Where Can I Fellowship? Women of our Church are invited each month to a time of devotion and fellowship together,
with November’s gathering being Saturday, November 14th at 9:00 am! All are welcome! Do you love the Seahawks? Let’s spend an evening cheering them on together on Sunday,
November 15th beginning at 5:15 pm (kickoff at 5:30 against the Arizona Cardinals) – this is a chance to fellowship together as a Church family! Bring a snack or dessert to share, we’ll provide the pizza!
Children are welcome, this will be an informal time of being together, conversation and watching the
game on our sanctuary screen!
This is looking ahead: we’re trying something fun and new for both fellowship and church
visibility this Christmas – we’re calling it: Flash Mob Caroling. It’s us. In public. In
Covington. Bursting into unexpected carols. It’s gonna be fun – December 20th at 4:00 pm!
Where Can I Give?
We are currently collecting non-perishable food items for the Maple Valley Food
Bank in our shopping cart in the foyer – there are lists of specific Thanksgiving-related items
in our Sunday bulletins!
Each Friday a group of Christian friends, including our own Ali and Shelby and Youth
Director Ashley, serve up a Free Pancake Breakfast to students at Kentlake High School.
They feed a lot of hungry kids with these free breakfasts, and are inviting donations of pancake
mix, apple juice and maple syrup – look for the collection bin in our foyer!
Have you filled a Shoebox yet for Operation Christmas Child? Ten bucks at the
dollar store can fill a box pretty quick! Pick up yours in the foyer and return it by Sunday,
November 22nd.
What Can I Celebrate?
Jessica Humble, for whom we have been in prayer in her fight against aggressive
cancer, has both recovered well from surgeries and most recently received the great news that
her cancer is in remission! Praise God!
It is a joy to welcome our new Middle School Ministries Coordinator, Maria Vachlon,
who began with us this week and will be with us in Worship this Sunday and going forward!
Please greet her and help welcome her to our Cornerstone family! Maria will share details of
her history with us in a future newsletter.
Rich and Kathy Snyder’s son-in-law Adam is recovering well after heart surgery this
week! Prayers for continued healing.
Some details from preparations for our forthcoming Charge Conference on Tuesday,
November 17th: so far in 2015 we have had 35 new members join our Church, including
our confirmation youth last June, in addition to 7 baptisms and 2 child dedications!
Another sign of God’s work among us!
Grateful for all that God is growing in our midst! God is good – All the time!
Pastor James Murphy
SPR and Cornerstone Staff are
excited to welcome Maria
Vachlon our new Middle School
Ministries Coordinator. Be sure

blowers and help make our grounds beautiful. We appreciate all your help.

Praying and Community Support
Prayer Corner
From Rich & Kathy Snyder—Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Son-in-law,
Adam, had his heart surgery today and everything went well. The doctor said it will take 24 hours
to be certain things are working as expected. The procedure was to graft his ascending aorta to fix
an aneurysm and replace the aortic valve with a mechanical one. His aortic valve had been defective
since birth, which they believe contributed to the aneurysm. assuming all continues to go well the
surgeon said he may be able to go home in 5 to 7 days. So Kathy and I will remain here until at least
he's home, then will try to figure out how to wind our way back to the northwest avoiding the
snow as best we can.
Take care and thank you again. We are blessed to have friends and family like you.
Prayers for the son of Roger & Louise Sargent on the passing of his girlfriend.
Continued prayers for Karen Schmitt as she undergoes treatment.
Continued prayers for Zane, Brant and Mikaela’s nephew, and for his family.
Prayers for Carrie Wilson’s father who is battling cancer.
Praising God for bringing Maria Vachlon to us as our new Middle School Ministries
Coordinator.
Praising God that for whom we have been in prayer in her fight against aggressive
cancer, has both recovered well from surgeries and most recently received the great
news that her cancer is in remission! Praise God!

The Tuell Center Belongs to You!
Bishop Grant Hagiya's talks about the Tuell Center
Recenlty Cornerstone participated in a “We See a New
Church” capital campaign, supporting leadership devel-
opment, new church starts, and our denomination’s fight
against malaria! Part of the funding for that campaign
goes towards the 65% will fund The Bishop Jack and
Marjorie Tuell Center for Leadership Excellence. The
Bishop Jack and Marjorie Tuell Center for Leadership
Excellence is a powerful new resource for change that
offers a continuum of support, training, coaching and
consulting. Once fully funded, the Tuell Center will
function as the driving force in implementing the vision
of a vibrant United Methodist community in the North-
west.
One important consensus is that the Tuell Center exists for the entire Greater Northwest Area.
Even though it may have started in the PNW Annual Conference, our staff and outreach is
equally distributed to Alaska, Oregon-Idaho and the Pacific Northwest Annual Conferences.
We are truly the Bishop Jack and Marjorie Tuell Center for Leadership Excellence for all of
the Greater Northwest Area.
Second, we have to do a better job of communicating to the entire Area the scope and
importance of our work. . To find out more about the Tuell Center please go to the link below.
