SUNDAY WORSHIP ● 8:00

Prelude Terry Sisk, organist

Welcome

▲ Call to Worship Here I Am To Worship Tim Hughes

Light of the world, you stepped down into darkness. Opened my eyes let me see. Beauty that made this heart adore You hope of a life spent with You.

(Chorus) Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down, here I am to say that you’re my God, You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy, altogether wonderful to me.

King of all days, oh so highly exalted glorious in heaven above. Humbly you came to the earth you created. All for love’s sake became poor. (Chorus)

I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. (Sing 4x’s)

Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down, here I am to say that you’re my God, You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy, altogether wonderful to me. (Sing 2x’s)

I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. (Sing 2x’s)

▲ Hymn #220 All People That On Earth Do Dwell OLD HUNDREDTH

It’s the song of the redeemed rising from the African plain. It’s the song of the forgiven drowning out the Amazon rain. The song of Asian believers filled with God’s holy fire. It’s ev’ry tribe, ev’ry tongue, ev’ry nation; A love song born of a grateful choir.

(Chorus) It’s all God’s children singing: “Glory, glory, hallelujah! He reigns, He reigns!” It’s all God’s children singing: “Glory, glory, hallelujah! He reigns, He reigns!”

Let it rise above the four winds, caught up in the heavenly sound. Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals to the faithful gathered underground. Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation, some were meant to persist. Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples, none rings truer than this: (Chorus)

And all the powers of darkness tremble at what they’ve just heard, ‘Cause all the powers of darkness can’t drown out a single word. (Chorus)

Yes. We are going back!

In July, a VPC SMP worked with Ms. Jeanette. We were the first volunteers she had to her home (she had waited over 2 years) - - the ceiling was falling in, the drywall was moldy, her daughter, grandchil-dren and herself were all sleeping in 2 bedrooms. They were lacking food and many other resources.

We put a roof on their home.

The need is deep. Really deep.

Volunteers are rebuilding the coast and restoring HOPE. Would you consider bringing a friend and coming down to Long Beach, MS from Saturday, January 5 - Sunday, January 13?

For more information contact: [email protected]

Responding to God’s Call with your pledge for the 2008 Unified Budget:

God has big plans for VPC, and we need your help to carry out His vision! The approved 2008 Unified Budget reflects our plans to accomplish the Lord’s purposes. Please prayerfully consider taking the next step in giving generously of your financial blessings to support the ministries and missions of the church. Pledge cards have been mailed and are also available on the Gathering Space wall in the Great Hall. We will present our pledges to God as a special offering during worship services on Commitment Sunday, Nov 11.

Today’s sanctuary flowers are given byLinda Montross, in memory of her parents Bill & Jean Sharrard,

Bill & Carolyn Carter, in loving memory of Tommye S. Carter

The group is based on the verse Joshua 24:15: “Therefore, if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

If you know of a friend or loved one who would benefit from this support, feel free to invite them. If you have any questions please contact Rita Lockwood for more information, 703.573.6168.

VPC’s Call and Care Ministry has a big mission: To extend God’s love to our entire congregation. This is being done by phoning the VPC community twice a year to say, “Hello!
