Supermarket Gift Card Collection
The Lynn Hunger Network is facing an on-going crisis
due to the recent closure of the only two food
pantries in Lynn. The food pantries had been
supporting 1,500 – 2,000 families on an on-going
basis, including many who are single and elderly.
Catholic Charities North is working with other social
service agencies in Lynn to ensure that no one goes
hungry.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our
supermarket gift card collection. These donations
directly assist the hungry in our midst. We will
continue to collect Market Basket and Stop and Shop
cards in the box located in the back of the church for
the next few weeks

*We Need Your Voices for Christmas Eve *
Ladies & Gentlemen,
Starting this week, we are offering an extraordinary
opportunity to those of you who love to sing – in the
shower, in the car, etc. Please join the St. Athanasius
amateur choir to sing just the 6 PM Christmas Eve
Mass.
More voices make better music. John Donovan, our
Music Director, teaches us songs on Wednesday
nights from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. We also rehearse at
8:30 AM Sundays before the mass. No prior music
experience necessary!
If this time slot is too difficult, he will hold rehearsals
after the 9 AM mass starting next Sunday, November
29th
. Even if you were tossed out of a choir at the age
of 13 (like I was), don’t let that stop you. We have
many different styles, but together, we sound sweet.
The Christmas Eve Choir is an opportunity to try it
out. Please lift up your voices in praise of our Lord,
Jesus Christ on his birthday! It’s a great gift to our
congregation and a whole new perspective on the
mass. See you there!
Sincerely,
Deb Hartman McCulley

RCIA
On Sunday, Nov. 29th
at the 11 o’clock Mass, we will
have the Rite of Signing for our Catechumen,
Heather Rubin. After the Mass, Heather and our
RCIA Candidate, Joe Senn, will meet with the RCIA
team in the office building to reflect on the Gospel
presented that weekend. If you would like more
information on coming into Full Communion with
the Church or AFF, please contact Maria Blewitt, 617-
640-0458 ([email protected]) or Roc
O’Connell, 781-944-3106 ([email protected]).
The Reading Knights of Columbus are hosting a
Christmas Open House in conjunction with the
Reading town lighting of the Christmas tree. Please
stop by the KofC Hall on 11 Sanborn Street on
Sunday, November 29, from 1-4PM. We will have
some crafts for the kids to make as well as some hot
chocolate and cookies to eat.
GIVING TREE Please take a gift request from the bulletin board at the church entrance. The gifts benefit families receiving services from Catholic Charities. At the request of Catholic Charities, we are asking for more gift certificates than specific gift requests. Gift certificates allow more flexibility for the parents as well as giving them the pleasure of shopping for gifts for their children. Unwrapped gifts should be returned to the church choir loft by December 13th. Gift cards may be left in the box in the entry way near the restroom. Donations of gift wrap are also appreciated so the parents can wrap the gifts for their children. Please call Ellen Terry at 781-944-5431 if you have any questions. Thank you!
The Little Blue Books Are Available for Advent! The Little Blue Books Are Available for Advent! The Little Blue Books Are Available for Advent! The Little Blue Books Are Available for Advent! In the back of the Church, copies of the Little Blue Books
for Advent are available for your spiritual reading
during this holy season. Please feel free to take a
copy. The books consist of short daily Scripture
readings, reflections, and take only a few minutes a day
to read. They are a wonderful way to get in the true
spirit of the season!
