The Leonid meteor shower happens every year in November, when Earth passes through the debris trail of the comet Tempel-Tuttle. The meteors will be visible to the naked eye, so you don’t need any special equipment to see them. The Leonids pick up steam after midnight and display the greatest meteor numbers just before dawn. This year, the Leonids are expected to fall most abundantly on Nov. 17 and 18. A Joyful Flower The flower for November is the chrysanthemum. The word comes from the Greek chrysos, which means “golden,” the original color of the blooms, and anthemon, which means “flower.” The chrysanthemum symbolizes optimism and joy. Recycle Day America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 was created to educate people about the importance of recycling to the economy and environment and to motivate occasional recyclers to become everyday recyclers.
