The 2016 World Series boasts two teams that
have a combined winning drought of 167
years. The media had many stories of folks
who have seen these games in the past. We
didn’t have to look hard to find our own
Hometown News story, here in Durbin Crossing.
Merritt Hughes, Durbin resident, attended our Senior Men’s Club meeting
proudly wearing his Indians cap. When asked, Indians, really?? His response
was ABSOLULTELY and then he shared the story
of riding 70 miles by train, with his Dad, at just seven
years old. They traveled to watch the Indians in 1948.
So yes, an Indians fan for life.
What a World Series it was. Merritt, sorry the Indians
didn’t pull it off this year - but thanks for sharing your
story. It doesn’t matter who your MLB team is that was
quite a World Series. Congrats to both teams and again, thanks Merritt.
We would like to thank all of
our Veterans for your
service. It is because of your
sacrifice that we enjoy our
freedom.
LAND OF THE FREE—BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!

WOW, would be the best word to descr ibe our 1st Annual Pumpkin Decorating
Day! All the kids had the same supplies and there wasn’t one pumpkin that
resembled another, SO cute. The kids got to visit the pumpkin patch, pick their
pumpkin and then the creativity SOARED!
We look forward to more Durbin Days ahead!
www.durbincrossingliving.com 10
We would like to take a minute and thank ALL of our residents that attended our
1st Annual Costume Parade. We were thrilled with the turn out and impressed by
your creativity and Halloween spirit! We had just under 100 Durbin kiddos, their
families and more participate. Thanks to the Snoopy gang for making a visit too!

Be thankful for…
The mess to clean up after a party because if means I am surrounded by friends…
The taxes that I pay because it means I am employed…
The clothes that fit a bit snug because it means I have food to eat…
A lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning,
And gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home…
The space I find at the end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking…
The lady behind me in church that sings off-key because it means I can hear…
The piles of laundry because it means I have clothes to wear…
Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, I have been productive…
Please take a minute this Holiday season and find thankfulness and joy!!
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
