NOVEMBER 2015ANGÉLICA'S HOUSE
Angélica and her 4 children have been living withher former mother-in-law since she was pregnantwith her youngest child, Perla, who is now 2 ½.Her husband left her when she was pregnant, andwhile it has been very kind of the children'sgrandmother to take them in, it has also been verydifficult. Angélica cares for her children the bestshe can, but does not have a job, so the onlymoney she has is the very little money herhusband gives her for the children, which barelycovers food.
In November, 2015, folks from Desert Springs Bible Church and Mission Community Church built a new home for Angélica, Efraín, Brayan, David and little Perla. The home is in a newer area of the barrio, close to the school the children will hopefully all be able to attend. The house is small, but is a private and safe place that Angélica can raise her family. We were also able to install a bathroom and septic system, which is such a blessing with four little ones!
We were fortunate to have several Spanish speakerson this mission trip, which allowed for a lot of greatcommunication. Women were able to talk withAngélica about her struggles and her joys. This ishow we learned that Angélica has been sharing atwin bed with all 4 of her children because that is allshe had. So, we were able to surprise her and thechildren with a built-in bunk bed complete with atwin and full mattress to add to their twin bed. Whenshe saw it for the first time, she ran and jumped on itlike a little kid! She was so happy with this blessing! The boys were excited, too!
Angélica was so excited to work alongside us to build her family home. When we shared the gospel with her, she listened intently. She was so touched by the love shown her that she wanted God's love to show outwardly on her house in two ways. First, she and some of our ladiesdesigned a beautifulmosaic for her newdoorstep to bothwelcome visitors and to
be a reminder that Jesus' heart built her house.Second, she crafted a sign for her door with theladies and children that says in English “God Blessthis Home” as a reminder of her American friends.
Gloria, Holly and others in our group shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with Angélica, her family and her neighbors using “Gospel Bracelets” that help tell the story.
When we dedicated the house to God, we gave Angélica a Spanish language Bible that we all signed, with our favorite Bible verses noted for her to look up. Imagine Angélica reading that God has a plan for her life (Jeremiah 29:11) and that God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that she might have eternal life (John 3:16)!
