The County Durham Furniture Help Scheme (CDFHS)
What do they help with? Furniture
The County Durham Furniture Help Scheme (CDFHS) provides affordable reusable furniture, household goods and appliances (in fact anything to make a house a home) to people in need across County Durham. For over 30 years we have run a relatively small-scale furniture help scheme by collecting unwanted reusable furniture and household goods from people who have purchased new items, people who have asked us to clear the houses of deceased family members and people who have moved and do not want to take their old things with them. Part of our work is to help people who have been unemployed due to illness (mental or physical) as well as ex-offenders and those who, for various reasons, have been long term unemployed, to return to employment by giving them work experience and the chance to learn new skills in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
