Introducing the Redesigned, EN Certified Wireless PMD2P

The PMD2P, evolved from the tried and true PMD1P, is EN 50131 certified and hosts a few new features.

After testing in the field, this product was noted for its reliable performance, detection range at different sensitivity settings, RF transmission range and signal strengths. Installers also commented on the ease of installation of the dual tamper mechanism and the simplicity of battery replacement as a result of its new battery holder.

New features include:

• Dual-tamper mechanism

• EN 50131 Grade 2 certified

• Powered by 3x AAA batteries

Translation PolicyA few months ago, Paradox instituted a new policy relating to translations of support (technical and marketing) materials. We will be providing translations of specific documents, according to Canadian law, from English to French only. These documents include programming, installation and operational guides, and manuals.

Marketing materials will be provided in English only, until further notice. The only exception to this policy may occur in relation to documents which we cannot provide source files, like videos and other multimedia files. In these instances, we will be happy to input the translated text, provided by the client, and deliver a new translated video to the client. Please note, that this type of translation request may take a minimum of two weeks.

Should there be a change in this policy, you will be notified.

Distributor News - In FocusNews From Brazil Paradox featured at Exclusive Home Show Sponsored by UNO Brasil

UNO Distribuidora recently participated as sponsor of CASA COR 2012, through partners providing products for security of the exhibition. This event has been held for 25 years and is known as the most important architecture event in Brazil. CASA COR events are hosted annually

in 22 Brazilian cities and four international locations; Chile, Panama, Peru and Punta del Este.

In 2012, the venue for this amazing event was two neoclassical mansions located on one of the busiest avenues in Porto Alegre. Over 100 professional architects, interior decorators and landscape designers executed 60 projects featuring fashion trends expressing this year’s theme: FASHION, STYLE and TECHNOLOGY.

UNO installed and maintained a security solution which consisted of two Magellan MG6250 consoles and various wireless detectors. Paradox products, with their sleek look and stunning finish, fit right in with the fashionable items on show in the CASA COR displays.

Philanthropic Activities Variant Plus Contributes Business Savvy and More to Help an Indian School

During his travels to the Himalayan territory in Northern India, Juraj Urbancik, General Manager of Variant Plus, was inspired by the mission of the Spring Dale Public School.

In the region there are government schools, which are poorly funded, and poorly execute their mission. The Spring Dale School is different. It was founded to provide a superior educational experience to the children without government assistance. The school provides opportunity and education to approximately 150 students from 4 to 15 years of age. The children attending the school represent a variety of religions. To date, they have relied on collecting student fees, which account for less than 50% of the operating budget, and the teachers willing to accept salaries lower than government teachers.

Juraj spent 2 weeks as a volunteer learning how the school operates and showing them how they can diversify their management activities to attract donations and provide long term stability to the school. Together, Juraj, school leaders and several other Czech volunteers created a plan to develop an information, culture and service center in the village supporting tourism. They secured funding from the Dalai Lama Trust Foundation to cover operating costs and a new schoolhouse. Czech volunteers at the school were granted a 30 minute audience and discussion with his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Leh, Northern India. Additional funds were raised from the Czech welfare society Brontosaurus. Brontosaurus’ grant went to building on-campus accommodations for the poorest of the school’s students. Variant Plus will provide funds for a new building on the campus to support the increased student population.

News From Italy HESA/DIAS Attends Sicurezza Exhibition 2012

Hesa/Dias, our distributor in Italy, recently attended the 16th Edition of the biannual Sicurezza Exhibition (held in Milan, Italy, November 7-9). Sicurezza is the only international exhibition in the security industry that

takes place in Italy, and cements its position among the top world events dedicated to security. For over 25 years, trade operatives of the security sector meet in Sicurezza. This year, HESA/DIAS made a big splash with a modern, clean display, and all showcased Paradox products were well-received by all attendees.

Distributor News - In FocusA Paradox First! A brief interview with Steve Andrassi, Paradox’s first distribution partner.

What year did you first start working with Paradox?I began my partnership with Paradox in 1989, when they first kicked-off the company.

How did you first hear about Paradox?That is a long story, but here is the short version of how we first met Shmuel. In 1989, we were selling telephones in Hungary. But we faced many problems with them. The Hungarians didn’t really understand how the product worked and sales never really took off. As a result, the importer I was working with suggested we consider selling another technology, like security systems. My reaction, why not! So the importer contacted Shmuel letting him know that there was a man in Hungary ready and able to import his products into Hungary. This led to a meeting, an agreement, and the start of a great friendship which still keeps growing strong.

What sparked your interest in Paradox and its products?Security has always been a serious issue, back then and now. It is crucial that people feel safe. Paradox products do that for our customers. They are of great quality and make our clients feel secure in their homes and businesses. As the company has matured, so have its products. They feature more advanced technologies, more intuitive to use, in a word they’re perfect!

How was Paradox received in Hungary?Years ago, like today, the Hungarian market truly appreciates the sleek and modern design of Paradox’s products, as well as the great technologies found inside them.

How did you first introduce Paradox products into your market?Every three months, we hosted a series of two-day seminars featuring Paradox products for installers. This helped build our partner ecosystem.

Which products did you focus on selling in the beginning and later on?It is easy to answer this question in relation to the beginning, because we didn’t have much choice. Shmuel sold only Pirotec motion detectors. As the Paradox catalog grew and the manufacturing facility in Canada started producing products, we started selling them. Today, we, our customers and their customers have a slew of products to choose from: keypads, access control, motion detectors, panels and accessories. This variety of products meets the needs of our clients, they depend on them to protect their loved ones and their businesses.

News From Bosnia-Herzegovina AFP Holds Training Conference

AFP recently organized a successful conference for 117 managers, integrators and installers in Sarajevo. The event was held at the Radon Plaza, one of the most prestigious hotels in the city.

The conference was well-received to all those involved. A tombola game was organized and the winner received an EVO192 and a TM40 kit as a main prize.
