    Ohio County Local Coordinating Committee

    Citizens for a Drug Free Community

    November 5, 2012

    Present: Amy Beckett, Laura Rolf, Kara Hudepohl, Debra Marsh-Niccum, Gary Eldridge, JanieEldridge, Debbie Thomason, Brandon Bogue, Jascia Robinson, Tom McKay

    Minutes:

    Debra Marsh-Niccum moved to accept the minutes, and Laura Rolf seconded. Approved.

    Treasurers report:

    Gary reported there were no expenditures last month. We have $7109.00 in revenues this year, muchless than the last 2 years. The current balance in the Drug Free Fund is $14,514.59.

    Red Ribbon Week: Debbie Thomason reported over 270 entries, and this was not counting all the

    kids who participated with the bulletin boards. The speaker for the high school was Andrew who wasvery inspiring. He told them he started with weed which led to the cocaine addiction. Many studentsapproached him after his talks about issues at home.

    For the k-5th graders, the Search Dog from Dearborn County Sheriff came and presented ademonstration and talked to the students.

    BAAAD Meeting:

    Aaron presented what FAD is planning to do education is the focus. He has two videos, one forparents and one for youth on drug testing. Aaron has presented at the First Baptist Church in Octoberand on November 28th will be presented at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Parents and students

    will be separated to watch the videos and then be brought back together for discussion.

    January 2013, David Jackson starts as the school resource officer at the high school. This position isfunded by the city and county.

    2013 Drug Free Grant Committee:

    Grant committee is still outstanding. Tom McKay, Debbie Thomason, Janie Eldridge have agreed toserve on the grant committee. Debbie Thomason will ask one other person to serve. Grants are due byFriday Nov. 9th at 4pm.

    Officers:

    Debbie has agreed to remain president. Other officers are under consideration.

    Announcements:

    In looking into 2013, the Drug Free would like to use Dan Allen to do a community forum onenabling.

    Jascia is taking kids to Kicks for Kids and Caitlyn Sauerhage the OCEMS counselor has been abig help.

    We may pilot a Celebrating Families session in one of the churches.

    Families needing home based case management can get help at Pathways Youth Shelter

    Women of Distinction awards won by 3 big sisters of BB/BS from our area.

    Debra Marsh-Niccum moved to adjourn, Elissa Pogue seconded.

    Following the formal Drug Free Meeting, lunch was provided by Historic Downtown and

    Kate Keller a Senior Program Officer at the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnatipresented an overview of the affordable Care Act in a way that is understandable and

    relevant to the audience. There were 38 people in attendance.
