  • Conniexion This month we celebrate the Saints, Christ the King Sunday, Thanksgiving, and begin a new

Christian Year in Advent! Wow, how our year has quickly progressed and how THANKFUL I am

    for ALL THINGS!

Charge Conference is November 21, and we look forward to celebrating ministry at Marianna FUMC. Your Nominations

and Leadership Team has put together a great Church Council for 2012. It is an exciting time in the life of the church. God

is blessing us with the gifted and faithful… and I am thankful.

We continue to add “Shake it up Cooking Teams” to wnl which will put us into an eight week rotation. If you do not want to

cook you might consider putting together a “cleanup team.” Another addition to wnl is the “CAKE GIVE AWAY.’ Every

Wednesday after the meal we draw names of those present for the cake of the week. Know that someone is going home

with an entire cake :0). We are all having fun as we gather around table for fellowship each Wednesday evening… and I

    am thankful.

Sunday worship continues to be inspired by the Holy Spirit as we gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing. Hopes and

dreams for Marianna FUMC are becoming reality as God is with us and guides us. I am reminded of the great hymn We

Gather Together, originally written in 1597 to celebrate a Dutch victory. It was arranged and translated from Dutch to

Latin by Edward Kremser; from German to English by Theodore Baker.

    We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;

He chastens and hastens His will to make known.

The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.

Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

    Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;

    So from the beginning the fight we were winning; Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine! We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant, And pray that Thou still our Defender will be. Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;

Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

It is a holy privilege to serve Marianna FUMC.

Please help keep the Helping Hands ministry and commu-

    Announcement

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that Danny Mann and his family will be

    leaving Marianna FUMC.

Danny has been accepted to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he will

begin his studies for his Masters of Divinity starting this Spring semester.

Danny’s Last Sunday with us will be January 9, 2012.

Please be sure to pray for Danny and his family as they take the next step in their lives

and for our SPRC as we begin the process to find our New Youth Director.

Let’s Pray! We are spending some time with our children learning about different kinds of prayer, how to pray,

and when to pray. As we work through our prayer module, there are six different types of prayer that

we will discuss. They are silence and listening to God; breath prayers; examen; intercession; read-

ing scripture prayerfully; and prayers of thankfulness. Children are encouraged to practice praying

at home, at school, and anytime that they want or need to talk to God.

To help us in our prayer journey, talk with your child about prayer as often as possible. It doesn’t

have to be a long, formal discussion. Look for those moments when a simple conversation can

make a really huge impact. Reinforce that God is always listening to them, and that anything that

they want to share with God is important and He is listening. They don’t always have to bow their

heads and use special words to talk with God; God is happy to hear from them just like a friend.

Teach them simple prayers, and talk to them about sharing their own thoughts and ideas about

prayer. Most importantly, let them see and hear you praying—this lets them know that praying is im-

portant to you, the most important and influential person in their life.

    Communion Bread and Edible Art

A great big thanks to Mrs. Whidden for teaching us about Communion bread! We enjoyed learning

how the bread is made, and we even created our own “edible art” to celebrate our learning!

Can you believe that Wal-Mart already has Christmas trees out? We’ve completely leap- frogged Thanksgiving and are already into the Christmas season. It’s hard to believe, we’re at this point in the year already, things are starting to taper down as we get ready for next step to start in January.

Before we get to Christmas we have a couple of great events coming up in Youth Ministry. First, on Saturday Nov. 12 the youth group is going to the second to the last David Crowder Band concert EVER!!! The praise and worship band that has written several popular songs over the last 10 years has decided to settle down and no longer tour. In addition to tickets, we have back stage passes to meet them in person! All students are invited, though we only have 20 spots. The cost is $35 and includes tickets and back stage passes. This is going to be awesome night of worship, make sure to be at Youth to sign up. Then on Dec. 4th, we are having our Youth Christmas Party from 6-8pm. More info will come out in the next few days as to location and what we are doing. I hope to see you all there.

And even though WalMart says Christmas is already here, please have a safe Halloween and a good Thanksgiving.

    In Christ,

    Danny

The Altar Guild will be “Hanging the Greens” for the Advent season

and Christmas. We need your help!! Men, women, children, young and

old. We need all of you. We are usually finished within two hours. We

will be serving cookies and lemonade (or hot apple cider if the

weather dictates.) Rain or shine we will be working. It is a very reward-

ing experience to prepare the sanctuary and the church grounds for

    this very important season.

birth of Jesus Christ. As he did with Jesus' crucifixion

in24 Hours That Changed the World, Hamilton once

again approaches a world-changing event with thought-

    fulness. Using historical information, archaeological

data, and a personal look at some of the stories sur-

rounding the birth, the most amazing moment in history

will become more real and heart-felt as you walk along

We are starting The Journey on WNL November 9, 2011 in the Disciple Room. This is a 3 week class.
