    November 18th, 2011, Lifestyle Risk Reduction: Talking About Alcohol and OtherDrugs - Part 2, Lawrenceburg, IN:ASAP Center and Dearborn County CASA is hosting this daylong training that will examinethe phases of alcohol and drug use, and how todetermine ones owntrigger level. This training is being held for FREE, however you must have completed Part 1 in orderto attend Part 2. Additionally there will be a $20 fee charged if you register and no show. YourCommunity Consultant has registration forms if you are interested in attending.

The PeyBack Foundationprovides grants to youth organizations that develop life skills and social skills while providing physicalactivity and opportunities for community involvement.     Teen Drug Data Offers Warning Signs for FutureDespite some positive signs, the latestMonitoring the Future survey of teen behavior and attitudes indicates troubling trends andperceptions regarding youth drug use. The report indicates erosions in young peoples perceptions ofthe harms associated with smoking marijuana, using Ecstasy, drinking alcohol and using smokelesstobacco. New data shows the improper use of legal substances, like prescription drugs and inhalants,has become a significant problem. For more information:www.monitoringthefuture.org.

    Resources to Help Parents Combat Teen Drug UseResearch shows that teens who have aclose relationship with their parents are less likely to use drugs and alcohol and engage in other riskybehaviors. ONDCPs National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaignhas a number of resources availablefree of charge to help educate parents in your community. Although overall teen drug use hasdeclined in recent years, it is imperative we continue to work together to educate youth and theirparents. Too many young people are still using illicit drugs and abusing prescription and over-the-counter-drugs.
