John,
Haven't heard much from the so
far this year. Hopefully, it is still functioning. I have a photo
taken of us at lunch with and when they
were in Chicago in June on their way home to Las Vegas
from the annual clan gathering in Ohio. It was so
good to see them once again. We don't do much traveling
anymore as we are both in our 80's now and the hassle of
air travel has taken much of the enjoyment out of it. We did
our share in the 90's and early 00's, but stay pretty much in
the Midwest around our family these days. Retirement is
getting longer and longer much to my surprise; 21 years
now. Little did we think we'd still be hanging in there this late
in the game? Hope the shekels hold out. It gets a bit
tougher as the years go by and the "govmn't" doesn't seem
to be helping a lot lately, although I do seem to bless Mr.
Roosevelt more each year for instituting Social Security and
its financial assistance. God willing, we will make it to those
pearly gates with our boots on.

All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
- by Robert Fulghum
Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do, and how
to be, I learned in Kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate
school mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school.
These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take
things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash
your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced
life. Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work some
every day.
Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and
stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup. The roots go
down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup - they all die. So
do we.
And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest
word of all: LOOK . Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love
and basic sanitation, ecology and politics and sane living.
Think of what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk about
3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic
policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and clean up
our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it
is best to hold hands and stick together. .

Health Alert
I did not know this.....
When you drink Vodka over ice, it can give you kidney failure,
When you drink Rum over ice, it can give you liver failure
When you drink whiskey over ice, it can give you heart problems,
When you drink Gin over ice, it can give you brain problems.
Apparently, ice is really bad for you.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************

HOW TO CLEAN THE HOUSE IN 2011
Works for me!
1. Open a new file in your PC.
2. Name it 'Housework.'
3. Send it to the RECYCLE BIN.
4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN.
5. Your PC will ask you, 'Are you sure you want to delete Houseworkpermanently?'
6. Calmly answer 'Yes,' and press mouse button firmly.
7. Feel better?
An ode to old age
There's quite an art to falling apart as the years go by,
And life doesn't begin at 40. That's a big fat lie.
My hair's getting thinner, my body is not;
The few teeth I have are beginning to rot.
I smell of Vick's-Vapo-Rub, not Chanel # 5;
My new pacemaker's all that keeps me alive.
When asked of my past, every detail I'll know,
But what was I doing 10 minutes ago?
Well, you get the idea, what more can I say?
I'm off to read the obituary, like I do every day;
If my names not there, I'll once again start -
Perfecting the art of falling apart

Gentle Thoughts for Today
Birds of a feather flock together...and then sh*t on your car.
A penny saved is a government oversight.
The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight,
because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.
The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
He who hesitates is probably right.
Did you ever notice: The Roman numerals for forty (40) are XL?
If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.
The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble.
Did you ever notice: When you put the two words 'The' and 'IRS' together they spell
'Theirs'?
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging
about it.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look
this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth, think of Algebra.
You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.
One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from
being young. Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth...AMEN!
Dance & move to the rhythms,
Have not one care,
About the eyes of spectators,
About the glances of any others.....

Shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by an 86 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the New York Times.Dear Sir:I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay myplumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting thecheck and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it..
I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire pension, an arrangementwhich, I admit, has been in place for only eight years.
You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also fordebiting my account $30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank.
My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethinkmy errant financial ways.
I noticed that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and letters, --- when Itry to contact you, I amconfronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by check, addressed personally and confidentially to anemployee at your bank whom you must nominate.
Be aware that it is an OFFENSE under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact which I require your chosen employee to complete.I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her asyour bank knows about me, there is no alternative.
Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by aNotary Public, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.
In due course, at MY convenience, I will issue your employee with a PIN number whichhe/she must quote in dealings with me.
I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the numberof button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service.
As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press buttons as follows:IMMEDIATELY AFTER DIALLING, PRESS THE STAR (*) BUTTON FOR ENGLISH#1. To make an appointment to see me#2. To query a missing payment.#3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.#4 To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping#5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.#6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home#7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required.
Password will be communicated to you at a later date to that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier.#8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7.#9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of myautomated answering service.#10. This is a second reminder to press* for English. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call. Regrettably, but again following your example, I must alsolevy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year?Your Humble ClientAnd remember: Don't make old People mad.We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off.
