Gospel Reflection Nov. 1st ♥ All Saints Day ♥ Matthew 5:1-12a
Today is the great feast day of All Saints. In the Gospel reading, we hear how Jesus gathers His followers around him on a hillside and teaches them a recipe or a formula for being a good person. Jesus gives His followers the Beati-tudes — a recipe or formula for our hearts and our minds. One of the Beatitudes says: “Blessed are the merci-
ful.” What does it mean to be merciful? Can you think of a time when you were merciful to some-one?
Another of the Beatitudes says: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Talk about some people you know who are peacemakers. What do they do? How do they do it? What can you do to thank someone who is a peacemaker?
Say the Our Father with your family or some friends and pray for peace in our world.

Memorial Altar Once again, we will dedicate the whole month of No-vember to our loved ones who have passed away. Our memorial altar, dedicated to honor their memory, will be on display in church beginning with All Saints Day. Please bring in a small photo or memento of your deceased loved one to display on the altar. We will honor those members of our parish who passed away this past year by having family members offer a candle for them in our weekend Masses during the month of November. Please contact Peggy at the Parish Center to sign up for your Mass.
Archbishop Appeal 2015 Holy Family Parish is at 66% of our goal for the 2015 Arch-bishop Appeal which began last February. We are asking every household to prayerfully consider making a donation. It would be great if we had 100% participation as this year’s focus is on our youth. Envelopes are located in the back of church. Any amount is welcomed.

Men of Intention
YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS
Holy Family Catholic School Did you know? The Holy Family physical education and health program is more than just extra activity time. Mr. Holboke, the PE and Health teacher, is a former personal trainer and gym owner. He teaches strategies for healthy liv-ing and exercise to the students of Holy Family. Students par-ticipate in “fitness testing” to encourage goal setting and per-sonal growth. In health class, students learn that staying healthy means exercising mentally, socially, and emotionally as well. As a school, HFCS works to develop well-rounded students, and the PE/Health program is one means to that end.

Friends of the Garden
The Parish Garden is slowly winding down. The green beans are done for the year, leaving only tomatoes and lettuce still producing. In the two times I've harvested since the last Bulletin here's what the Parish Garden has given: Tomatoes: 195 Lettuce: 38 head The harvest has gone to the "regulars": the Parish chapter of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP), and the main SVDP Food Bank. In addition, a new "customer" this week: St. Francis Dining Hall, on SE Oak. I'd like to give a BIG thank you to Bert Morrison, the Parish Maintenance Supervisor. In addition to the multitude of tasks that this fellow is involved with, he has found time to bring a number of bags of leaves to the Parish Garden, to start this year's collection. He also took it upon himself to single- handedly remove the greenhouse cover for the year. THANK YOU Bert! Don't forget the Parish Garden when it comes time to remove your leaves. They are a huge help. Best help is if you can bag them, and leave them behind the greenhouse. Yours in Life, Baruch Bashan 707.494.7666 [email protected]
