SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

We are collecting Hot Chocolate Mix for the Susquehanna County Christmas Bureau. This group provides the ingredients for Christmas Dinner for low income families in Susquehanna County. (Hot Chocolate Mix is available at the Dollar stores at better prices than the grocery stores.) Your help would be greatly appreciated.

SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE PHILIPPINES & VIETNAM ~ THIS WEEKEND Over the past few days, one of the most powerful storms ever recorded destroyed entire villages and devastated cities across the Philippines and Vietnam. More than 10,000 people are feared dead in Super Typhoon Haiyan and more than 9,000,000 people have been affected. Those who are suffering from the effects of this storm, our brothers and sisters, need our help. To this end, Bishop Bambera asks the good people in the Diocese of Scranton to unite with the sufferings of the people of the Philippines and Vietnam by taking up a special collection this weekend, November 16th & 17th, to provide financial aid to them in this time of devastation. Here in Northeastern and North Central Pennsylvania, many of us recall the destruction of Tropical Storm Lee just two years ago. For that reason among many others, we need to reach out and embrace our Filipino and Vietnamese sisters and brothers with our generosity and love. The immediacy of their need under-scores our need to respond immediately and not wait. The proceeds of this collection will be used to support the efforts of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Relief Services to respond to immediate emergency needs and to assist in the long-term recovery from the disaster. Our heartfelt prayers go out to all of our Filipino and Vietnamese sisters and brothers in the Diocese of Scranton for their families and loved ones living in their native lands. Thank you for your willingness to "witness" Christ's love by your service to those in need.

PARISH PRAYER CHAIN If you would like to help respond to prayer requests (for anyone in need-not just Parishioners), please contact Rosalynd Perlick-Spenser (570-663-2212), Susie Reichlen (570-553-2618), or Mary Keenan (570-553-2431). If you have actual prayer requests, please call anyone on the list and many prayers will be offered for your particular intention.
