SPT NIGHT, A SUCCESS!
The 5th Annual SPT Night
was the best so far thanks in
part to BSSA, Business of
Sports Student Association,
who worked closely with
NSU Athletics, the Alumni
Association and the Sport
and Recreation Management
Department. Over 70 people
were in attendance and BSSA
raised over $500 at their si-
lent auction. Thanks to all
who attended.
BSSA members Julia Salmio, Presi-
dent Tiffany Kelly and Alex Tabeek
are all smiles after a successful event
topped off by NSU doubleheader vic-
tories.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
The Miami Dolphins are in need of volunteers to help with our Dolphins Cancer Challenge on
February 20, 2016. The DCC is a Tri-County Cycling and 5K run/walk event. In five years,
the DCC has raised over $11.5 million for the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive
Cancer Center. Volunteers of all ages are needed at water stops to hydrate and encourage the
participants along the routes. We would greatly appreciate you sharing this awesome oppor-
tunity with your students.

INTERNSHIPS SEAT Interns gain invaluable access to the sports & entertainment professionals who at-tend the conference as well as they are able to watch, hear & listen to sessions & speakers from around the World for a great learning experience to prepare them for working in this industry.
We are searching for 40 incredibly talented and enthusiastic sports college stu-dents.
Several years ago, I put a policy in place that in exchange for their dedication and hard work from Friday July 15th to July 20th , their hotel room and food are taken care of.
The selected Interns will simply need to pay for transportation to get to Las Vegas by Friday July 15th and departure July 20th.
Candidates can read the requirements, detail information & submit the requested information for consideration via the following URL: http://seatconsortium.com/seatintern Any assistance you can provide to spread the word and help us bring together another fantastic group of interns for SEAT Las Vegas would be immensely appreciated!

CONGRATULATIONS! 2015 graduate Michael Hand recently checked in to report the fol-
lowing:
“I'm doing great. I've just been busy working in Bradenton. I had a
seasonal job in the box office with the Bradenton Marauders, a mi-
nor league baseball team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Currently I work at IMG in the part time operations department.
And just recently I was hired by the Tampa Bay Rays to work in
their box office as well. I'm looking all over the place for intern-
ships and employment with a professional sports team. Also, net-
working like crazy as you mentioned all the time in class!
Here’s some news from another 2015 graduate, Carlos Rivera:
It was great talking to you on the phone today. I definitely could not wait to
inform you of the great news. I got hired to work in the Front Office as a
Ticket Sales Representative for the Kane County Cougars in Geneva, IL. They
are the Class Low-A Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. From 1996-
2002, the Cougars were the Class Low-A Affiliate of the, then, Florida Mar-
lins.
Editor’s Note: “Kane County is a great organization. The Marlins players
used to tell us how much they enjoyed playing for the Cougars! I am sure
that Carlos will have a great experience.” Professor Olson, former Florida Marlins employee.
Current student Olivier Boulin is featured in the new video:
“Realizing Potential—the Campaign for NSU.” Dr. Finley and
Gabby McCue also make cameo appearances! Sport and Recre-
ation Management along with our Shark Athletic Teams are well
represented. Let’s all support the campaign and scholarships for
our students!
Marc Cianci, graduate assistant for the NSU Athletics Compliance
and Academics Department, was recently named Compliance and Aca-
demic Enhancement Coordinator for Embry Riddle Aeronautical Uni-
versity’s Athletic Department in Daytona Beach.
