Nicasio School will conduct a

Lockdown Drill - followed by a Simulated Emergency Student Release to Parents

Wednesday, November 2, 2016

On Wednesday, November 2nd, all students, teachers and staff will participate in our first lockdown drill of the school year. This exercise will take place from 1:15-1:30pm.

Following the lockdown drill, students, teachers and staff will assemble in the MPR to practice our Emergency Student Release plan. This drill will require the participation of all parents or authorized adults planning to pick up students that day. This exercise will help familiarize our school community with the protocols for releasing students to parents/authorized adults following an actual emergency.

Please note the following regarding the student release drill:

♦ Anyone arriving to pick up a student on November 2nd (and every day) must be named on that student’s list of authorized Drivers/Emergency Contacts.

♦ Upon arrival, parents/other authorized adults will be asked to form a line at the “Student Request Table” located outside the north doors of the MPR.

♦ You may be asked to show a driver’s license or other photo ID.

♦ Because the release process will take longer than normal, parents/other authorized adults may arrive as early as 1:30pm and no later than 2pm.

♦ Students will be released in the order in which they have been requested by their parents/other authorized adults.

♦ Be prepared for rain! This drill will take place rain or shine, and the Student Request and Release waiting areas for parents/guardians are outside the MPR.

Thank you in advance, for your patience, cooperation and participation!

EMERGENCY STUDENT RELEASE TO PARENTS DRILL STARTS AT 1:30pm.

~Students ~ Wear Your Costumes and Join the Parade

on October 31st!

As you know, Halloween is fast approaching, and for any students who would like to do so, learning-friendly costumes may be worn to school on Monday, October 31st. These costumes must be appropriate for the school environment i.e. no masks, gory or scary costumes, clown costumes, or “weapon-like” accessories. Parents and siblings are encouraged to join us from 8:40-9:00am to watch our all-school costume parade (costumes are optional). You won’t want to miss this fun and wacky procession (don’t forget your camera!).

Hi all, As we approach Halloween and subsequently Veteran’s Day, I wanted to invite all students countywide to donate their candy and new toothbrushes to our troops on behalf of Operation Gratitude. Last year, Marin County families donated more than 600 pounds of candy and toothbrushes through this program! This is a great way to encourage stu-dent awareness for our troops overseas as well as help them understand the importance of giving back – a civic virtue. I encourage teachers and parents to consider making this a fun opportunity to have students send notes, cards, and pictures to the troops as well. How to donate:

· Collect your unwanted candy, toothbrushes, cards, pictures, etc. · Deliver to the Marin County Office of Education – Superinten-

dent’s Office at 1111 Las Gallinas Avenue in San Rafael · Deliveries are requested no later than Monday, November 7

Thank you for supporting our troops!

Hello Nicasio School families! My name is Shannon Kozubik and I have 3 kiddos --two of them, John Thomas (4th) and Kate (2nd) are at Nicasio School. I am excited to be creating our school yearbook this year. I need your help gathering a wide range of photos of the kids in action at school and on field trips this year. There are 3 ways you can get me the images that you take: 1) The easiest way is to upload them directly to our online Yearbook site. It’s so simple!

1. Go to hjeshare.com 1. Enter the school code, which is: nicasio 2. Enter your info 3. Select images you want to share 4. Enter image info 5. Upload!

You can upload up to 10 images at a time. 2) If you find that you just cannot use this site, please email your images to [email protected] 3) If those methods don’t work, you can hand me a CD or thumb drive with your images (or leave them in the office and Mikki will get them to me).

Thank you so much! Here’s to a great 2017!
