Notre Dame FoundationAnnual Report
2009-2010
-
Dear Family, Friends and Alumni:On July fi rst of this year, Bishop Amos appointed me pastor of Ss. John and Paul Parish. Th is is the second time I have been assigned to Burlington. My fi rst assignment was as a newly ordained priest to St. Paul Parish and faculty to Notre Dame in 1979. My years at Notre Dame High School 31 years ago were tremendous years of learning and growth for me as a priest. Now I am overjoyed at the opportunity to serve again in this wonderful community.Coming back to Notre Dame after a 28 years absence has been an amazing experience. Many of the students I had in class back then now have children of their own here at Notre Dame. Th eir passion for the school shines brighter than ever. I see a tremendous dedication in Notre Dame teachers and staff , physical improvements to our facilities, and countless volunteer hours given by parents and friends. I marvel at the circle of life I see continuing here at Notre Dame. I encourage you to read through the foundation report and give generously to our school. If you have this report in your hand, chances are you have benefi ted from a Notre Dame education personally or have children or relatives who have taken advantage of all that Notre Dame has to off er. It is only through your generosity that we can ensure future generations have the same opportunities to receive a Notre Dame education. For my part, as the pastor of Ss. John and Paul Parish, I plan to work hard to promote and support Notre Dame and to guarantee that the Catholic values of faith in Jesus Christ, integrity, charity, justice, sound teaching and service remain central to the life of our schools. Th ank you for your support! God bless you and your family.

Making a difference... one student at a timeWith over $2 million in managed assets, the Notre Dame Foundation supports a variety of functions within Notre Dame. Gifts from generous friends and donors support Notre Dame through the Foundation via teacher salary support, learning and technology needs, and scholarships for students. The largest impact the ND Foundation has had on Notre Dame is in the realm of salary assistance for our teachers and administrators. Since 1997, the Foundation has applied over $680,000 to supplementing salaries of our teachers and administrators. Because of your generosity, our capital improvement and curriculum funds have been able to assist Notre Dame schools in challenging times. For instance, this year the ND Foundation helped Notre Dame replace our 50 year old boiler. Facility improvements such as this ensure our kids have a safe, happy and nurturing learning environment.Scholarships have also brought Catholic education within reach for many Notre Dame students. The Foundation’s scholarship monies have funded over 180 scholarships totaling nearly $80,000 to deserving Notre Dame students over the past 13 years. Persons interested in contributing to existing funds, establishing new scholarships, creating a memorial fund, or donating to programs or capital projects are encouraged to contact the Notre Dame Foundation Development Director, 319 754-8431 x385.
