    Activity: Rhino Oil & Gas has lodged an application for an Exploration Right (ER) to explore for “Petroleum and Gas” with the Petroleum Agency of South Africa (“PASA”) in terms of Section 79 of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (No. 28 of 2002) (MPRDA).     Kennis geskied hiermee van die voorneme om ’n aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging te rig en om ’n openbare deelnameproses te onderneem ingevolge die Regulasies op Omgewingsimpakevaluerings (OIE), 2014 (soos gewysig in 2017) wat afgekondig is ingevolge die Nasionale Wet op Omgewingsbestuur, 1998 (Wet 107 van 1998) (NEMA).

    Applikant: Rhino Oil and Gas Exploration South Africa (Edms.) Bpk. (“Rhino Oil & Gas”).

    Aktiwiteit: Rhino Oil & Gas het ’n aansoek om ’n eksplorasiereg (ER) ingevolge Artikel 79 van die Wet op die Ontwikkeling van Minerale en Petroleum Hulpbronne, 2002 (Wet 28 van 2002) (MPRDA) aan die Petroleumagentskap van Suid-Afrika (Pasa) gerig om vir “Petroleum en Gas” te eksploreer. Die 350 ER-aansoekgebied is min of meer tussen die Bo-Tugelastreek van KwaZulu-Natal, noord verby Harrismith tot net noord van Warden in die Vrystaat geleë. Die 350 ER-aansoekgebied strek weswaarts van Harrismith af, verby Kestell tot by Bethlehem. In die noorde, strek die 350 ER-aansoekgebied wes van Warden af verby Reitz tot by die Lindleygebied.

    Die ER-aansoek is om vroeë-fase eksplorasie te onderneem, wat daarop gemik is om die teenwoordigheid van petroleum- en gashulpbronne aan te dui wat dalk verdere eksplorasie regverdig. Die aanvanklike eksplorasiewerkprogram sal beperk wees tot oorsig van data op kantoorvlak en die onderneming van ’n lugopname. Geen ter plaatse eksplorasiebedrywighede word in die vooruitsig gestel nie en geen toegang tot enige grond word benodig nie.

    Aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging: Ingevolge die MPRDA, is ’n vereiste om ’n ER te bekom dat die applikant moet voldoen aan Hoofstuk 5 van NEMA. Ingevolge NEMA verg die beoogde projek Omgewingsmagtiging aangesien dit aanleiding gee tot Aktiwiteit 18 in Lyskennisgewing 2 (Staatskennisgewing R984, gewysig in 2017). Derhalwe moet ’n Bestekopname en OIE-proses ingevolge die 2014 OIE-regulasies onderneem word. Rhino Oil & Gas sal by die bevoegde owerheid ’n aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging rig.

    ’n Agtergrondinligtingsdokument (AID), wat die voorlopige projekinligting bied, is opgestel en beskikbaar vir insae en kommentaar.     St Andrew’s artist among best in SAGrade 6 learner from Saint Andrew’s, Mengo Chen, entered the Santam Children’s Art Competition and performed outstandingly well. There were 4 300 entries from across South Africa. From those, just 280 were chosen for the Santam Children’s Art online exhibition for 2020. Only 13 were then chosen for the Santam Calendar for 2020 and Mengo’s entry was one of those. His excellent achievement was recognised by Junior School Head Arno Boonzaier and applauded by the boys in the junior school before Chapel on Wednesday.

    Kennis geskied hiermee van die voorneme om ’n aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging te rig en om ’n openbare deelnameproses te onderneem ingevolge die Regulasies op Omgewingsimpakevaluerings (OIE), 2014 (soos gewysig in 2017) wat afgekondig is ingevolge die Nasionale Wet op Omgewingsbestuur, 1998 (Wet 107 van 1998) (NEMA).

    Applikant: Rhino Oil and Gas Exploration South Africa (Edms.) Bpk. (“Rhino Oil & Gas”).

    Aktiwiteit: Rhino Oil & Gas het ’n aansoek om ’n eksplorasiereg (ER) ingevolge Artikel 79 van die Wet op die Ontwikkeling van Minerale en Petroleum Hulpbronne, 2002 (Wet 28 van 2002) (MPRDA) aan die Petroleumagentskap van Suid-Afrika (Pasa) gerig om vir “Petroleum en Gas” te eksploreer. Die 350 ER-aansoekgebied is min of meer tussen die Bo-Tugelastreek van KwaZulu-Natal, noord verby Harrismith tot net noord van Warden in die Vrystaat geleë. Die 350 ER-aansoekgebied strek weswaarts van Harrismith af, verby Kestell tot by Bethlehem. In die noorde, strek die 350 ER-aansoekgebied wes van Warden af verby Reitz tot by die Lindleygebied.

    Die ER-aansoek is om vroeë-fase eksplorasie te onderneem, wat daarop gemik is om die teenwoordigheid van petroleum- en gashulpbronne aan te dui wat dalk verdere eksplorasie regverdig. Die aanvanklike eksplorasiewerkprogram sal beperk wees tot oorsig van data op kantoorvlak en die onderneming van ’n lugopname. Geen ter plaatse eksplorasiebedrywighede word in die vooruitsig gestel nie en geen toegang tot enige grond word benodig nie.

    Omgewingsevalueringspraktisyn: SLR Consulting (South Africa) (Edms.) Bpk. (“SLR”).

    Aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging: Ingevolge die MPRDA, is ’n vereiste om ’n ER te bekom dat die applikant moet voldoen aan Hoofstuk 5 van NEMA. Ingevolge NEMA verg die beoogde projek Omgewingsmagtiging aangesien dit aanleiding gee tot Aktiwiteit 18 in Lyskennisgewing 2 (Staatskennisgewing R984, gewysig in 2017). Derhalwe moet ’n Bestekopname en OIE-proses ingevolge die 2014 OIE-regulasies onderneem word. Rhino Oil & Gas sal by die bevoegde owerheid ’n aansoek om Omgewingsmagtiging rig.

    ’n Agtergrondinligtingsdokument (AID), wat die voorlopige projekinligting bied, is opgestel en beskikbaar vir insae en kommentaar. Afskrifte van die AID is op versoek van SLR beskikbaar of kan van SLR se webwerf (www.slrconsulting.com/za/slr-documents) afgelaai word. Die AID sluit ’n kaart en lys van plase in wat by die ER-aansoekgebied ingesluit is.

    Applicant: Rhino Oil and Gas Exploration SouthAfrica (Pty) Ltd (“Rhino Oil & Gas”).

    Notice is hereby given of the intention to make an application for EnvironmentalAuthorisation and undertake a public participationprocess in terms of the Environmental ImpactAssessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (as amended in 2017) promulgated in terms ofthe National Environmental ManagementAct, 1998 (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA).

    Application for Environmental Authorisation: In terms of the MPRDA, a requirement for obtaining an ER is that the applicantmust comply with Chapter 5 of NEMA. In terms of NEMA, the proposed project requires EnvironmentalAuthorisation as it triggersActivity 18 in Listing Notice 2 (GN No. R984, amended in 2017). As such a Scoping and EIAprocess must be undertaken in termsof the EIARegulations 2014. Rhino Oil & Gas will make an application for EnvironmentalAuthorisation to the competent authority.

    IN THE FREE STATE AND KWAZULU-NATAL PROVINCES (12/3/350 ER)PROPOSED EXPLORATION FOR PETROLEUM AND GAS ON VARIOUS FARMS

    Activity: Rhino Oil & Gas has lodged an application for an Exploration Right (ER) to explore for “Petroleum and Gas” with thePetroleum Agency of South Africa (“PASA”) in terms of Section 79 of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act,2002 (No. 28 of 2002) (MPRDA). The 350 ER application area is located roughly between the Upper Tugela region of KwaZulu-Natal, north past Harrismith to just north of Warden in the Free State. The 350 ER application area extends westward, fromHarrismith, past Kestell to Bethlehem. In the north the 350 ER application area extends west from Warden past Reitz up to theLindley area.

    The ER application is for undertaking early-phase exploration, which is aimed at indicating the presence of petroleum and gasresources that could warrant further exploration. The initial exploration work programme would be restricted to desktop datareview and the undertaking of an aerial survey. No on-the-ground exploration activities are proposed and no access is required toany land.
