the Northern part of Stover Township. Kos. ?642? to 33 inol* , 161 to 69 laol. These claims were staked in.the fall of 1942 and very little work has been done since. They ere well located being OIL the Western extension of the showings on the Pileggi Ho. l or Vest group and also on the Eastern extension of the Pileegi No. 2 or centre group showings*Access etc* : . - ' x'* ; . "' . .' . . :- .."' .'. :, ~ -

A well constructed 14 x 16 log camp has. b^en built on the East line of Claim 36428. It is reached by a 3/4 mile trail from the old Bonnabie road at a point about l mile East of Pileggi's trail* Prom the new Rennabie highway to the old road is 3/4 mile along Piloggi's trail and the trail leaves the highway approximately ^ miles from Uissanable Station.

The ground is vr*U wooded with spruce, Jaokpine, birch and poplar. It is low sun? largely covered with overburden with low rounded outcrops oooarionolly noted.

There is ample water available in the contra! and Northern parts of the Claims from creeks, swamps and lakes. The nearest electric power is at the Cline Mine some 16 miles to the West*

Geology* ,2he property has never boon thoroughly mapped

and the geology da shown on the aooom^xnying area map is largely projected from known ooourrenoos to tie East and Woot* In a gen- oral way tho claims are underlain by a series of basic volcanics and tuffs with interbedded sediments and iron formations and in truded by sill-like bodies of quartz porphyry and to the South by a large mass of granite* Tho general trend of the rooks is from North 450 west to North 750 West with a steep dip to the South. The south West corner of the property is underlain by part of the , granite batholith referred to above* North of this is an horizon of basic volcanics, mostly greenstone flows about 8000' wido carry-

ing a porniatent 30' wide iron foznation band about 900' South of the North contact* North of this is a 6000* wide horizon of intermediate to basic tuffs carrying at least one iron formation

- horizon* North of tills, in the North-East corner of the property ' is a 50001 wide sedimentary horizon with interbedded tuffs and

intruded by a #)0* wito sill-like body of quartz porphyry*

As noted above, the best known possibilities. of the propnrty lie in the prospeoting for the lEastern extension of the Pileggi West group veins. The best of those veins is known as No* 4 and has been traced from Pileggi*s principal showing on Claim 36304 across Claim 36384 into Garvey Claim No. 36426 as shown on the accompanying plans* These plans show the results obtained from Pileggi*s sampling and while these are -athor spotty they Justify further work* The vein consists of a sheared zone between coarse dtorltlo greenstone to the south-west and medium grained greenstone to the North-Bast* Thin shear zone follows the rock structure and carries stringers and narrow lenses of sugary Quarts over widths of from l* O t to 6*0*. Mineralization Is light and con sists of fine to medium grained pyrite with visible gold occasion ally noted* Where encounteredvon the Garvey ground just over the Pileggi boundary,the vein was strong and about 6*0* wide but a chip sample returned only 0.40 dwts. In spite of the low assay addition al trenching and prospecting are warranted hare.

The main South iron formation has been found near the West boundary of Claim 36428 almost on the "Base Line". (The "base line11 is a true Bast-Westerly line run by Government geologists while mapping the area). The iron formation here shows about 30* wide of banded magnetite and cherty q artz and is Intruded by narrow sill-like dykes of quartz porphyry and by North-South dykes of diabase, several samples of the iron formation returned only Trace and this rook does not seem to offer muoh chance of find ing values.

In the North-Bast corner of tho property the porphyry dyke that occurs on the Pileggi Centre group crosses claims 36433 and 36461. No work has been done hore but some pros pecting would be Justified.

Conclusion

The prospecting, trenching, and dlazoond drilling done on this property during the past Sinner have fairly woll oovored the property and have eliminated all of the obvious onanooa of finding ore* While there Is alnoys the possibility that ore- bodies night be found* suoh a possibility is too romote to justify the expense of further work.

I would rooocnend that our option bo abandoned before September 2iid, 19*5 1 after which dato wo booone rosponsible for more assessment work.

The accompany inc plans shov/ tho results from work done during the past Sunsaer on the olnlno of this Rroup. Tho 1000* Boale plan of tho whole group was compiled from our own obsonm- tions and in some places from tho recently published Ontario Bureau of Ulnes Mtxp, ito. 516* The accompanying one hundred scale plans are enlargements of tho four areas shown on the 1000*soalo whore detailed work vmo done*

From two to three nan word employed for throe months in prospecting tho olainn and In tor In trenching and blaatlng Into tho most favourable showings . Finally 1000* of diamond drilling1, was done to Investigate tho two most promising showings opened up and to complete tho assessment work.

Geology * General

It will bo soon that the claims aro, for the moat part, underlain by Keewatin greenstone lavas (andositos and basalts) with

occasional interbedded iron formations* In the extreme KS corner of the property a oerieo of acid and baaio tuffs is found interbedded with the greenstones and the acid tuff band is the HW continuation of the zone on the Pileggl So* 2 group where ve did 0000 work in 1943.

The S.w* claims of the group are underlain by , the North edge of a large body of granite that has intruded the greenstones* Two strong and persistent porphyry dykes have been located as shown as veil as several small ones associated with the iron formations in the Ho* 3 urea* In addition to these intrusives numerous late diabase dykes are found as indicated on the plans*

The general trend of the greenstones end interbedded rooks io from N&potf to Itt^Off with very steep dips. Of the intrusivest the granite contact crooning tho claims is about N&OOW while the porphyries vary from N&QOtf to N45ow* Ofee diabase dykes are all roughly parallel at about NZO0)?*

Considerable evidence of folding was noted but not enough work was done to outline any ouoh ntruotureo. ?i?o parallel regional faults are shown about 2JJOO' apart trending N570E aorooB the North claims of the group and following creeks and low swampy areas* Tho evidence for those faults is very sketchy but it s eons likely that they ore present from tho observed displacement of various formations*

Geology * Economic.

(1} Pileggi No. 4 Vein extension

The m^ia showing on tho Pilogci Ik), l group is tho No* 4 vein, "tolo vein is found near the Wost end of the Horrood Line to tho SE of Baltimore Creek. It consists of throo para., lei shearings in greenstones carrying narrow lenticular quartz veins and stringers and a weak streaky pyrite-arsenopyrito mineralization across a width of about 120** The strike is 3620E and the dip vertical. Considerable trenching and stripping has outlined one ore shoot in the most Southerly shearing aver-

about Si?. 00 across 2.1* for a length of 110'* Occasional assays have also been obtained from narrow quartz stringers

in the other shearings, fhe veins . parallel an iron formation bond lying about 100* to tho S.V/. and both can bo traced from noar tho creek for a distance of nearly 600* along their strike to the jfi. Beyond this is heavy overburden with only rare rock exposure/ . o within a short distance of the Oarvoy boundary in Claim

Tho first work done on the Garvey ground was an attempt to find the extension of this Pileggi No* 4 rein* ^fter picketing out the strike of the roin fron the Pileggi workings, a similar series of shears lying 120* KB of an iron formation was found near the middle of the North boundary of Claim 3O26*

Several trenches were blasted across the shearings and also the iron formation as shown on the accompanying NO* l plan* obese were thoroughly sampled but the assays showed little of interest except one assay of 1*20 dwts* across 2.0* in a mineralized shearing* Later, two drill holes, Bos* 4 and 5* were put down to the S. 2* of the above value but, while the shearing was out in each holo, no values of interest were ob tained*

It is fairly certain that the zone investigated here is the extension of the Pileggi No* 4 zone but it is obvious that in the 1100* length investigated, the values are too low to warrant further work* It is possible that farther to the SK tho vein may oorry values but work here would be expensive due to overburden and of too speculative a nature to be justified*

(2) West Zone

About 200* B. of tho No. 4 poo t of Clain ?642^, proapootinn uncover od a 15* wide weakly carbonated shear zone striking NoO0^ and dipping 70" SW OB shown on the aooompanying NO* 2 Plan* This shearing carrieo quartz streaks with a weak pyrite mineralization and panning of the weathered surface material oooooionally showed spooko of gold.

One trench was blasted across tho shearing between the claim line and the svranp to the South. Sampling of tho shear showed one assay of 1*60 dwts* across 3.0* and tho previous pannings showed tho possibility of an oro shoot here* Two drill holes, Noo. l and 3 wore drilled under this showing to investigate this possibility.

Ho)" Ho* l cut 20* of shearing and showed a series of low valv^ averaging 0.40 dirts, across this width* Hole 190* 2 out L* similar width of shearing but showed no mineraliz ation and was not sonplod. Hole No. 2 was drilled to tho S.W. to investigate the rhyolitio natorlal out in No* l hole near the collar and to complete the aasossnont requirements. It showed nothing of interest.

This V/est zone night possibly Justify further work, especially whore it approaches tho granite contact to the 3*5*,

but in view of the heavy overburden and the poor results already obtained* suoh work cannot be recommended*

(3) Creek Area

This area covers tho central part of Claim 36428 and adjacent ports of 36429* The results of work in this area are shown on Plan Ho* 3* Prospecting here has located two different types of mineralization* In the Western and central part* porphyries and iron formations are found wnile in the eastern part a strong quartz porphyry dyke was investi gated*

Plan NO* 3 shows tho occurrence of 10t to 20* wide quartz porphyry dykes intruded along a zone of thin bedded iron formations near the central part of Claim 36428 with both forma tions trending about X&^Off* Several trenches were blasted across both the iron formation and the porphyries and thoroughly sampled* Results were as shown and are obviously too low to bo of interest*

On the east end of tho aroa, mostly on Claim 36429* a 80* wide quartz porphyry dyke Tras found striking l&JJOff with tho NE contact strongly sheared and carrying a weak pyrite mineralization. Some 40* to the S.W. of the dyke is found a parallel, 20* wide, shear zone carrying quartz veinlets and weak ly mineralized by fine pyrite* Three deep tranches were blasted here, two aoroso tho shear zone and one across the NE porphyry contact. Th3 assay results ore as sh?.Tu and as thoy oro practic ally all "trace" no further work is justified on tlieso structures*

(4) Bast Area

The east area lies West of the West end of Stover ijRlsa and covers the control portion of Claim 36433* Details of tho work here are shov... on Plan No. 4.

It will be seen that a 10* wide shear zone carrying quartz ve inlets, two eight foo^ iron formation bands, and a 10* wide quartz porphyry dyke oro all parallel and strike N4-5OV/ et tho T2ast end of the area. Thoy have all been blasted into and thoroughly sampled and it will be noted that tho highest value returned Is 0,40 dwts* They are obviously of no interest.

Two other showings noar the West claim boundary wore sampled but with negative results*

(5) Other areas

Tho areas described above cover the property fairly well with two exceptions, one In tho iffi corner and tho other in the SV/ corner*

In the H* S* earner of the property, on Clain 56461 the NW extension of the main zone on the Pileggi No. 2 group is found in a 550* wide band of acid tuffs* Considerable time was spent investigating these tuffs and some very weakly mineralized patches wero found* However, no panning** could be obtained even after roasting and no trenching was done* It la unlikely that this area would show anything of interest*

As noted above* the main granite oontaot of the area crosses the SW corner or the claims* The actual oontaot has not been seen and might possibly show interesting mineral ization. However, nothing of interest has ever been found along this oontaot and as prospecting here would be expensive because of overburden, further work cannot be recommended*

Reoonmondations

It will be seen that the work described above has eliminated most of the obvious chances of finding ore on tho property. Neither the Bastward extension' of the Pileggi No* 4 zone or tho Westward extension of the showing on the Pileggi No* Z group seono to be of any interest and of the various othor zones located and investigated, none shown any promise.

While there is always tho possibility thatsomething of interest night be discovered on tho property, the ohonoes are too poor In my opinion, to justify the expense and I would recommend that our Option bo abandoned.

Under our agreement wo have to give the owners sixty days notioo of abandonment beforo aoseoomont work is duo. Tho next work le duo November 2nd, 1?4^, and thun wo should oanool tho option before September 2nd, 1945, If we 60 no fur ther work.

Aa you probably know, we prospected tha claim* during the auraoer of 1944 and drilled thraa ahort holaa on what we considered to be the moat promising ahowings* We also did considerable stripping and trenching and various iron formation bands, but in all of this work wa found nothing of interest in the way of values and wa have decided that we do not wish to spend any more money in the development of the property.

X am enolosing a print showing tha results of our work. The diamond drill core from our thraa holet is stored at the camp on the property*
