The workaround for this problem, as described in Note 114287, is out of date and should no longer be used. Other terms failsafe, OFS, BR_OFS Reason and Prerequisites You must stop the database by means of Oracle Fail Safe in a Microsoft Windows cluster environment. Solution BRBACKUP uses the command "FSCMD OFFLINERESOURCE ..." to stop the database. Therefore, you no longer need the changes described in point 5 of Note 114287 in the SAP standard. To activate the functions, set the following variables in the BRBACKUP environment: BR_OFS=1 BR_OFS_RESOURCE=<database_resource_name> BR_OFS_CLUSTER=<cluster_name> BR_OFS_USER=<user_name> BR_OFS_DOMAIN=<domain> BR_OFS_PWD=<password> Note: The password is case-sensitive. If you use the DBA Planning Calendar (transaction DB13) to initiate BRBACKUP in the MSCS cluster environment, it is normally started on the database server using a remote shell service or a stand-alone gateway (refer to Note 657999). In this case, you can set the relevant SAP service or gateway users in the environment file for the variables described above. Refer to the Oracle Fail Safe documentation for further information on the FSCMD command. Extended in BRBACKUP 4.5B patch 68. Extended in BRBACKUP 4.6D Patch 13. For more information about downloading patches, refer to Notes 12741 and 19466. Note: If you run Oracle Fail Safe Release 3.0.4 or an earlier version, you must use patch level 69 and 14 or higher.
