    BIBLE-BASED & PRAYER FOCUSED

Please pray for the team leading this month’s Sunday service at Grays Fair Court, a home for older people in Costessey. On the 3rd Saturday of each month, 9am-11am, is Caleb, a Men’s gathering at Witard Rd Baptist Church. You are welcome to come along and enjoy fellowship together.

    EBA Prayer Focus: Somersham Baptist

Church, Cambridgeshire. Prayer points: (1) For the vision for the future regarding leadership, more deacons and potential minister. (2) For more families to become part of the church fellowship. (3) For the outreach efforts through the various groups to result in people coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, being baptized, discipled and becoming a part of the church in Somersham.

  • BIBLE-BASED & PRAYER FOCUSED

1 As we start a new month, may we ask God to show us a new expression of His love. May we break out of what we know of ourselves and surrender to our mighty God.

2 Ezekiel 11:19, I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

3 Pray that Encounter is well attended this evening, with hungry children of God, ready to engage with our Lord and enrich the Church.

4 Pray for all those in our Church who have taken up new positions of leadership. May the Holy Spirit show them where they are to serve Him and may they be given faith and courage.

5 Rev 21:1-3 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared”. As we bring to the Lord all those who serve and share in the life of NCBC, let us ask Him for a new wave of His presence, a fresh anointing, and a hunger for more of Him.

6 Pray for those continuing on the Bible Course. May they gain deep heart knowledge as well as head knowledge.

7 Street of the week: Pray for all those people living in New Mills Yard. Why not prayer walk the street as you pray?

8 Ministry of the week: Pray for the work of Samaritan’s Purse and the Operation Christmas Child campaign as it gets underway. Pray that many children would be blessed through the gifts that they receive and know that they are loved and cherished by God their Father.

9 Great is His faithfulness. His mercies are new every day. Praise God that He is always with us.

10 Pray for the persecuted church. Pray that their faith will remain strong in unbearable circumstances. Cry out to the Lord to soften their suffering and give them peace.

11 Continue to pray for the Government and the Brexit talks. As the time draws nearer for the parties to agree terms, may God’s hand reign in all of this.

12 Give God thanks for our Pastor and the leadership team. Pray that they will be strengthened in their inner being as they seek to be obedient to God’s Will and purpose for NCBC. Ephesians 3:16

13 Continue to pray for those who are not well in our church family. Pray that they will experience God’s healing. Jehovah Rapha - The Lord, Our Healer.

14 Street of the week: Pray for all those people living in Unicorn Yard. Why not prayer walk the street as you pray?

15 Ministry of the week: Pray for the work of Compassion as they seek to release children from poverty. Particularly pray for Angie, who is sponsored by NCBC.

16 Isaiah 43:18 Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!

Please pray regularly for those in our church. Some names appear in the calendar below to guide you.

  • 17 Pray that our church services will be marked with displays of supernatural power, be it through healings or spiritual gifts. May lives be dramatically changed by Jesus Christ.

18 Pray for the Doorway of Hope service, taking place today at Norwich Cathedral, which is a service of remembrance for those who have lost a baby in some way. May those who attend be comforted by the comfort that can only be received through our Lord Jesus Christ.

19 As we journey together as a church family let us pray for each other to trust the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding. - Proverbs 3:5

20 Continue to pray for the Ebola outbreak in the North Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Pray for treatment to reach those in need, for the disease to be prevented from spreading into neighbouring Uganda and Rwanda, and for healing for those who are currently suffering.

21 Street of the week: Pray for all those people living in Bucks Yard. Why not prayer walk the street as you pray?

22 Ministry of the week: Pray for Nikki and Akan and the team running the Holiday Club this week as they share the Good News about Jesus. Pray that the children who come would have lots of fun and experience the love of God.

23 Africa: Around 50 girls are being treated in hospital in Burkina Faso (West Africa) after botched circumcisions, or female genital mutilation (FGM), a minister says. FGM is practised in 30 African countries, and in many is illegal. Please pray that more countries will make the practice illegal, and that the people who perform this violence against women and girls will be brought to justice quickly so that we see an end to FGM.

24 Venezuela - appears to be a failing state with hyper inflation and poverty for millions. Pray that somehow a solution can be found to the economics, and also the humanitarian needs with millions fleeing the county to South American neighbours, many of whom are not being welcoming.

25 Another month, and another request for prayer surrounding terrible weather and storm situations, in USA and Philippines/China. Pray for the clear up - that it can be swift and effective, and pray for the people whose lives have been devastated.

26 Pray, continue to pray, for the ongoing trade wars around the world - particularly between the two superpowers China and USA. Pray for a reduction in tension and that political and territorial conflict will go away leaving peace in its wake.

27 Mali faces ongoing food insecurity as farmers suffer from unpredictable rainfall, drought and the effects of climate change. Pray for improved food production throughout Mali and for God’s peace to fall on farmers who rely on agriculture for their livelihood.

28 Street of the week: Pray for all those people living in Indigo Yard. Why not prayer walk the street as you pray?

29 Ministry of the week: Pray for the work of Tools with a Mission. Pray that through the provision of training, tool kits and equipment, entire communities would be transformed. ‘‘ You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.’’ Isaiah 25:4

30 Millions of people have been displaced across Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon due to the Boko Haram conflict. Without access to their farms, or waters to fish in, many are reliant on humanitarian aid for food. Pray for help to reach those in most need, and for peace.

31 On a night where many will celebrate the darkness, may the Living Lord Jesus Christ be glorified. May His shining Light be seen across the City, the country, the world.

    COMMUNITY-BASED

Mousehold Hub Mousehold Hub is starting to really take off now—it is the venue for a range of regular activities, including the Norwich Community Gospel Choir, Portuguese speaking church plant, Messy Church and Youth football programmes. There are 2 football teams, drawn from children in George White School—U10s and U12s. Currently Alan is responsible for both teams and really needs others to come on board to help manage. It is also good to provide refreshments for home matches, if you could help with this for a couple of hours on some Saturday mornings. If you are interested in either of these opportunities to be part of the community, please speak to Alan Barnes.

At the start of the month Norwich Youth For Christ moved into the top floor of the building, working from there and planning youth activities to run from there. We will also be running the October half-term Holiday Club and Light Party at the Hub. Over the last four months we have conducted a survey amongst local residents to find out about the

Mousehold area. We have asked for suggestions as to how the church could use the building, which would benefit the community. The overwhelming response was that people would like a cafe, open after school drop-off or in the afternoon before school pickup. We would now like to create a Cafe Team to work on setting up a pilot cafe at Mousehold Hub, initially open for a couple of mornings a week. If you have experience of setting up or working in a cafe, creative skills to begin thinking about the decor, business skills for creating a budget, please get involved. The Cafe Team will hold their first meeting on Monday the 8th of October at 1pm, at the Hub. Please contact Julie John for more information. The Community Gospel Choir is open to anyone. There are no auditions and there’s no music-reading involved. Wednesday night rehearsals are at 7.30-9pm. For more information: https://www.ncgc.org.uk/join-the-choir

  • Light Party, 31st October, Mousehold Hub. Can you help with any of the following?

    • Manning the door and signing children in/out

    • Refreshments/helping in the kitchen

    • Helping children with activities

    • Clearing up between activities

    • Providing brightly decorated cupcakes

Please sign up on the Bible-Based noticeboard. The next 20:20 meeting will be held at Church on Friday 12th October at 7.15pm. We will be having a bring and share picnic, so if all coming along could bring a little something to contribute then that would be great! Contact Becca on 07538599385 for further details. Save The Date! On Saturday the 17th November we will be hosting a quiz evening in aid of TearFund. Teams of 6-8 people, starting at 6.30pm. Further details available in November. Church Administrator We are looking for someone to help with church administration for 10 hours a week, spread across 3 afternoons. This would be an 18 months contract. For job description and details please contact Gill in the church office on [email protected] or 760497. Closing date is the 14th October. Holiday Club, Wednesday 24th - Friday 26th October, Mousehold Hub, for children aged 5—11. Booking forms are

now available. Could you help with the following:

    • Setting up on Tuesday 23rd October;

    • Being part of the team for 1 day or more doing registration, refreshments or helping with groupwork;

    • Providing junk-modelling materials of cardboard, plastic pots and bottles.

Sign-up or speak to Alan Barnes. Youth Quest trip to Sheringham Sunday, 7th October. Picnic on the beach and a visit to the service at Lighthouse church, with worship led by Lou Fellingham. Leaving NCBC at 4.30pm. Contact the church office or Alan Barnes for full details. Recycling Please note that we do not take batteries for recycling anymore — they can be taken to most supermarkets. Winter Shelter We will be partnering with Norwich churches, the council and voluntary organisations to provide night time shelter for rough sleepers on a rota. We will need lots of practical help with this so please do think about volunteering.
