Scribe Continued...Broadcasting, is falling off. Of their annual budget of $8.2 million, $6 million comes from members, sponsors, and other private donations. As a part of their public outreach, they try to bring live performances of their programming to local audiences. Some recent examples to appear in Iowa are Story Corp, Cokie Roberts, Snap Judgment, The Moth and It’s Been a Minute. [Scribe note: I’ve attended a number of live record-ing shows, including Prairie Home Companion, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me and Whaddaya Know?] The most frequent request they get is for Terry Gross, but she won’t leave Pennsylvania. They have 25 individual stations, the best known and widest coverage probably coming from WOI, at 90.1 FM and 640 AM. But you can look at a station map at IPR.org, as well as a scheduling calendar. So, tune your radio dials to the best thing in Iowa!
