Salappen- Toward a paperless Parliament

Background:

At end of 2012, the Presidium resolved to remove all paper from the Storting Chamber.

The aim was to save paper and reduce the workload before and after sittings by avoiding the distribution and removal of documents.

The Members attending Parliament at any given time are registered in a system called Storkonf. This is where Salappen gets its information

Live TV transmission of sittings- Direct from the Storting Chamber

Sittings and hearings are transmitted live on Web TV

The pilot project has revealed that the way Salappen gets its tv signals is not optimal; there being a 30 to 60 second delay.

The amount of traffic on the wireless net and the Internet is also large, which can result in lower quality on other Web services

The ICT Section is looking for an alternative solution to the video streaming.

• Number of copies distributed is reduced from 280 to 120
