REASONS FOR THE PROJECT gastrointestinal tract is one of the main locations of malignant cancers;

cancers of the digestive system are extremely dangerous - 5-year survival when the disease is detected at an advanced stage is kept below 5%;

detection of neoplastic diseases of the digestive system in the early stages of the disease is very low;

a significant increase in the incidence of cancer of the digestive system - particularly the large intestine in recent years forecasts of the National Cancer Registry show that the incidence of this type of cancer in the coming years will continue to increase;

gastrointestinal cancer mainly affects people over 40 years of age, in the face of a rapidly aging population can claim that the problem of cancer in this location will continue to grow;

HEALTH EDUCATIONOngoing project also provides health education and health promotion connected with preventive examinations and a healthy lifestyle. Meetings with potential participants in the project and the project participants and their families will be held in all municipalities of Zawiercie and Myszków districts. The meetings will consist of two parts - a meeting with the oncologist and nutritionist, aimed at enhancing knowledge of the early signs of cancer, risk factors and proceeding in case of the suspicion of the disease and the role of physical activity and a proper diet in reducing the risk of cancer. Project will last from the signing the agreement till April 2016.

Primary prevention of malignant tumors is based on the identification of risk

factors, eliminating or reducing exposure to them, which should result in a

decrease in the incidence of cancer
