    2 GENERAL FOOTNOTES

    2.1 PARKDALE - ST. CLAIR AVE.-So that signals will notclear unnecessarily, crews switching between approach signalsof CP Rail crossing, mileage 4.6, must advise CP Rail TrainDispatcher before starting work and when work completed.Trains and engines operating on siding must obtain permis-sion from Train Dispatcher, YX MacMillan Yard and CP RailTrain Dispatcher before leaving siding southward to cross CPRail. To assist in avoiding delay Operators at Parkdale and St.Clair Ave. will advise CP Rail Train Dispatcher of throughnorthward and southward movements.

    2.2 ST. CLAIR AVE.-Siding is the south end of service trackbetween mileage 4.8 and crossover at mileage 5.5.All southward movements between mileage 5.2 and mileage4.6 must stop clear of south switch St. Clair Ave. siding,mileage 4.8, when signal at railway crossing at grade mileage4.6 indicates "Stop", and remain until permissive signal isreceived. If stopped, a member of the crew must immediatelycontact CP Rail Train Dispatcher from telephone located atmileage 4.8.' This does not apply to yard engines workingabout the St. Clair Ave. district.

    2.3 DOWNSVIEW-First track east of main track between mile-age 8.1 and mileage 8.6 is siding.All switching must be made with air coupled except enginesswitching at the south end of yard when the engine is workingon the south tend of the cars being switched.

    2.4 SNIDER NORTH-Upon request, Conductors on northwardtrains will report departure from Snider North to TrainDispatcher YX MacMillan Yard, by radio.

    2.5 BARRIE—First track east of main track is siding.2.6 BARRIE-Connection from Newmarket Subdivision to Bee-

    ton and Meaford Subdivisions is via yard tracks.2.7 ORILLIA—First track east of main track is siding.2.8 MILEAGE 88.4-Southward advance speed restriction sign for

    drawbridge, mileage 88.4 is located one half mile from restrict-ing sign.

    2.9 WASHAGO-*Emergency watering faculties located in base-ment of station.

    2.10 GRAVENHURST-Upon request, Conductors on all trainswill report arrivals or departure at Gravenhurst to Train Dis-patcher CK Capreol, by radio

    9 PUBLIC CROSSINGS AT GRADE

    9.1 Mileage 4.2 (Wallace Avenue) automatically protected.Movement stopped within approach circuits will cause gatesto raise. Gates will again lower when movement proceedstowards crossing and gates must be in lowered position beforeoccupying crossing.Track occupancy between timing circuit signs on main trackwill cause gates to remain lowered.The ringing of engine bell is prohibited except to avoidaccident. (B.T.C. 71388).

    9.2 Mileage 10.5 (Carlhall Road) automatically protected.Movements on Airbase siding must be protected by a memberof the crew. (B.T.C. 118711).

    9.3 Mileage 30.0 (Wellington St.) Item 1.21 Form 696 applies.9.4 Mileage 34.1 (Davis Dr.) Item 1.21 Form 696 applies. A

    timing circuit extends south for 500 feet from crossing.Northward movements stopped on this circuit must operatepushbutton No. 1 located on station before occupying cros-sing.A timing circuit extends from 100 to 300 feet north ofcrossing.Southward movements stopped to set out or lift must leaveleading car within this circuit. After recoupling, engine mustbe within this circuit and pushbutton No. 2 attached toinstrument case must be pressed to start protection.

    9.5 Mileage 85.9 (West St.) Item 1.21 Form 696 applies.Timing circuits extend from 350 feet to 1050 feet south ofcrossing and from 400 feet to 750 feet north of crossing.

    9.6 Mileage 86.2 (Front St.) Item 1.21 Form 696 applies.A "Crossing Circuit" sign is located 50 feet north of crossing.Southward trains stopping must stop before passing this sign.Pushbuttons are located each side of crossing. When south-ward train is stopped on circuit between train order office andcrossing, protection may be stopped by operating "Stop"button. "Start" button must be operated before movementagain proceeds toward crossing.

    9.7 Mileage 98.8 (Quetton Street) Item 1.21 Form 696 applies.Timing circuits extend 300 feet north of crossing on all tracksand 300 feet south of crossing on main tracks only. Move-ments which have stopped on any timing circuit must operatethe proper pushbutton before proceeding towards crossing.Pushbuttons are located adjacent to track governed andinstructions for their use are posted in box near crossing.
